Ounce of Prevention PSA 1982

I've turned cooking pot handles that way for over 30 years thanks to this psa.

Just the way I remember it as a child.

This whole thing is still tattooed in my brain!

I still always here this in my head when I see pot handles turned out.

One of the few PSAs that stuck with me after all these years.

To this day forward, this commercial always made me remember to keep dangling cords out of reach, to keep goodies away from heat, and to keep those pot handles turned in!

Seen this from age 2 to age 8. Still a potent message on safety after 40 years.

That coffee pot's snake cord always creeped me out as a kid. And that pot of boiling water on the stove still traumatizes me up to now.

I swear these "lessons" have stayed with me after all these years! People don't think kids pay attention but they do😁

"Remember! Hot water can burn in less than threeeeee seconds!" -- Tweety Bird. I guess it worked pretty well, seeing as how I remember the takeaway message after what? Thirty years?

This is one of the greatest PSA's in television history. It had aired for nearly a decade, and I always enjoyed watching this. And yes, I've seen it more times than I could comfortably count. I think it's a beautiful thing to know how a character like Bugs Bunny truly cares for people like us. He believes strongly in keeping children safe, healthy, and well-educated. There have been other PSA's on TV that featured Bugs, and they're the best, too. God Bless You, Bugs Bunny. And may your heart of gold continue to shimmer and shine.

Having seen this a million times in the 80's I ALWAYS kept pot handles "toined in" around children. A couple times felt it may have made a difference. But I don't want to know. Just glad I saw this so many times it was burned into my memory when I became an adult.

That's definitely Mel Blanc doing all the voices. (except the announcer at the start)

Mel Blanc himself was a Shriner and often spent his off-time entertaining kids at their hospitals

It's because of this PSA that I always turn my pot handles to the wall.

Man I was terrified of the pot at the end when I was a child😹

Growing up in the 80s in the US I saw this all the time. I think it may have still been running in the 90s.
