Singapore chef Hawker Chan is the only chef in the world to get a Michelin star for street food. We tried the chef's char siew pork, which is sticky pork served with rice, during a three-day event in King's Cross, in Central London. The meal cost £6 ($7.95).

This man is humble. Most people would open restaurants and chains but this guy wants to keep it authentic and down to earth

People who are complaining that it's expensive must be dense. First of all, he's selling to Londoners, who, last time I checked, aren't earning Singapore Dollars. Not to mention the ingredients that he bought using pounds, and the rental for the truck as well. Besides that, he also flew half the globe and have to also pay for accommodation and transportation while he's there. Even if he's sponsored, somone has to make money in the end no?

How is $8 too expensive? If there is someone who thinks this is too expensive, they've obviously never tried it. Hawker Chan is my favorite food stall in my country. The flavor in their food tastes so much better than even most fine dining restaurants and that's not even an exaggeration. Their food doesn't just taste cooked. Their food tastes PREPARED. You can't make some simple pieces of pork taste that heavenly without preparing it for hours beforehand.

Mr. Chan is a very typicall "uncle" in Asian hawker. Soft spoken, polite, friendly. Just a humble person :)

This famous dish cost is cheaper than McDonald's. You wonder why there's a line.

As a singaporean Im proud of this man. Ps the translation is very wrong..thats not what he said...
  • One of the few michellen star vids where the food looks edible and not just grass and flowers
  • @emorcen
Wow the translation you guys did for chef Chan is horrendous.
  • @chinesememer
This translation is extremely NOT on point. Chef specifically mentioned the cut on the pig twice. There is no pork steak. Guy use pork belly and it definitely look fatty.

Singapore Hawker stands in general are amazing. You will find great food wether you go down the Malay or Indian route at very very reasonable prices, plastic chairs and tables with no silver service is where it is at. Food is one thing in Singapore that can be cheap and cheerful which makes a change to most other things you would buy.

I had this! The line for this stall was insane! It wrapped around all the other stalls. But the meat and rice was divine👌perfectly cooked and seasoned

At 4:50 because of what he said, he’s a instant legend. Respect to this man

Fatty BBQ pork on rice covered with special sauce, eating street side London. Hmmm must be a good feeling.
  • @xoALSox
I’ve seen his stand in Singapore, the line was always so long. Seeing this start in London, I was baffled until they introduced him!

Chef Chan is such a humble person and you could see how he love his cooking. He makes sure every customer put a big smile after eating his "char siew pork rice"... Well done Chef 👍👍👏👏 Even my hometown in Sarawak has the same cuisine. 🙏☮️♥️😋

That's why michelin doesn't care about asia. It would be a night sky of star
  • @wishy6658
She Pronounced Hawker as Hooker. I died right there.
  • @RayMak
    It taste really really good
  • @lcc726
When she said the fatty part is horrible I cringed🙄🤦... That's what makes Cha siu so good is when u have some fat mixed in. If there's no fat it's too lean which gets very hard and chewy
