My favorite monologue in Metal Gear History.

Can we just have David Hayter say this at every graduation?

I find it very poetic that Solid Snake (David) is the only person who understood the Boss’s Will , “To let the world be” despite not even meeting her or knowing her existence, and I think this ending makes Snake a very compelling character for that.

"And new species may rule over this planet" (shows squirrel on screen)

I was having an existential crisis and then I remembered this monologue and now I feel a lot better.

Kojima tried to end the series here. His fans wouldn't let him.

Building the future and keeping the past alive are one in the same thing. Essentially means censorship of any kind destroys human history. If we censor out all the bad parts of our history, the good means nothing. Building a better future requires a deep understanding of our past, without that understanding all we do is run in circles.

This is more than a video game. Through the whole entire shitstorm that was the final act of this game, I feel a grander experience than any other game ever was created. After the crazy Colonel codec calls, the insane plot twists, and just absolute nonsensical fever-dream like madness, the true message of Kojima's story is portrayed in a beautiful and touching ending. This made me feel more connected to a game and it's character than ever before. This is not a video game, this is art.

I want this played at my funeral. Nothing else. Just this.

To this day I still think this game had the most real world relevance of all gaming. Especially with it being one of the first major post 9/11 games to come out. It was something that we all needed.

"It's not whether you were right or wrong, it's how much faith you were willing to have, that decides the future." Still shakes me to my core to this day.

MGS 2 is underrated , is just that the typical gamer doesn't want to think

1:00 Building the future and keeping the past alive, are one and the same thing

"What are you fighting for?!" "If we make it through this, I'll tell you."

the seagull at the end always tears me up, it sounds so sad and beautiful, perfect end to the bittersweet speech

The Metal Gear series is more than a video game series, it is simply cinematic art. This speech alone spoken by Solid Snake is a life lesson.

If I was a billionaire, I'd hire David Hayter to follow me around and say this repeatedly.

This speech is what the game is about. Took him an entire game, but he wanted the player to let go of the game.
