This week, David is taking a well-earned vacation so Marques and Andrew talk about a bunch of the latest news from the week! They start it off with Marques giving his final thoughts on the new MacBook Pro since he wasn't here last week before getting into some EV talk. After that, they talk about some new Pixel Watch 3 rumors and Spotify adding audiobooks to premium subscribers before wrapping it all up with some David-themed trivia. Hope you enjoy!

Editor's note: Sorry if the audio sounds wonky, I forgot to turn off an annoying setting before exporting! - Adam

Sorry for anyone saying that the audio sounds a little wonky. I forgot to uncheck a weird setting during the export and the audio suffered but we're working on fixing it thanks for understanding!

Siphoning electricity with your mouth is an amazing start to a tech podcast
  • @futur3sn0w
It's crazy how different it feels already without David considering it's how the podcast originally started 😂
  • @ReclusiveEagle
The sound is an audio setting you can turn off, it's for you to be able to tell if you are shooting slow speed, high or turbo. Otherwise people would just focus the camera and suddenly they are out of space on a 2TB card because they were accidently shooting 120 on silent mode.
  • Surely Ellis gets swapped in as a main host at some point. The man is too funny to be on the sidelines

Actually, shooting 120FPS RAW photos is more difficult than video because a photo has WAY more data per frame than a video frame, and it is also generally a much higher resolution. Like it's 6K here. 14 bit 6K 120FPS is insanity

i was at the event for the a9iii. the shutter sound is electronic, you can just turn it off and its silent. Theres also this other feature called precapture, if you half press the shutter it can store up to one second before you press the shutter. someone on stage did a demo of taking shots of birds before flight and then taking off.

Props to Andrew for getting IT support from Marques. His rates are pretty high.
  • @AmaraARW
I'm pretty sure the noise the camera makes is coming from the cameras speakers to provide feedback, as normally you would hear the mechanical shutter when you take a photo

A camera in the thumbnail with David being out, makes hope for a lot of hot camera takes.

I have a couple hummingbird feeders during the summer and they “buzz” me sometimes when I’m sitting outside. Not like they’re going to attack, more like saying hello. It sounds very insectlike. They are also very territorial and if there are multiple hummingbirds around you can hear them chattering at each other.

I love that the podcast recently transitioned to a more light-hearted but still very useful and informative one rather than staying serious. I remember, years back I didn't sub, because it was too serious, but these days the vibe is perfect

Friday is always fun with waveform podcast

Why does the audio sound weird, its like voices are getting picked from two microphones at the same time?
  • @jandmharper
I drive a BMW I3 with range extender which works exactly like the ram truck. I actually love it, because 90% of my driving is all electric, but when I need the extra range, I can use the range extender which is a gas generator. But when I turn it on, there’s absolutely zero difference in how it drives.
  • @eeskaatt
YT made the skip button smaller by rounding the corners and lessening the pad between the word Skip and the edge of the button. Compared to their previous rectangular button.

Another Friday, another podcast🙌🏾 best part of my day ngl
  • @kaptainkool101
Does that audio sound a bit off today? Almost like a mix of too aggressive denoising / using a vocal doubler, especially on Marques voice. (Edit - If you EQ the audio in post, does it have a linear phase EQ mode? Otherwise you might be getting some strange phase cancelation issues especially in the low/mid - mid range.)
  • @larryjoe2112
My guess is that the noise from the Turbo boost button is just an audio cue so you know you are using it. (so you know you are using it vs the slower one and so you know how long you are on it, filling your storage up...) And probably has a setting to turn it off so when you are shooting hummingbirds you don't scare them off...
