I played Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon for 6 hours, and as someone previously unfamiliar with Armored Core, I have a lot of thoughts.

As a 40+dad gamer. If you had told me way back when i was playing the original armored core in my teen years that one day fantasy games would be "main stream" and mech games would be "niche" i would not have believed you. Wild.
  • @R2debo_
Iron Pineapple already sounds like the perfect mech name!
  • @Aaron-oq9qg
This is the best game overview I have seen in a long while. Fantastic job with the interview too considering you only had 15 minutes to rethink what you wanted to ask the director.
  • @Ookamisieshin
I can only imagine how it must have felt to learn you were getting to meet the director 15 minutes before the meeting. From his answers, he seems like a really down to earth guy and I can't wait to play AC:6.
  • @CalebXH
Something to note that, if it's like past AC games, some missions might have hidden AC parts that can be found aside from the main objective. So there is some room for light exploration on a case by case basis.
  • @Saber.X
As a veteran of the series I can say you did an extremely good job at explaining the game to newcomers, really well done!

Random tip from a mech game player, dodging missiles tends to be easier if you dip in towards the enemy. So, basically, once the missiles start to maneuver, if you dodge forward inside their turn arc, they will have a lot more trouble catching you. Generally, in AC, missiles have a max turn rate that you can exploit.

Glad AC is finally getting the attention and level of development it deserves. I think this game is going to ignite a spark in the mech genre.
  • @ragnarockerbunny
"the more bullets, the better" I too abide by this mech building philosophy and feel very seen
  • As someone who has played every armored core since 2003, I really appreciate this review. No nostalgia and an opinion I've always enjoyed listening to. It's so cool you got to talk to the director side note, and I really appreciate you going through the channels to do this. Love you pineapple, I'll always rewatch your DS2 pvp videos every one and a while.
  • As someone who got into souls because of my love of Armored.Core its cool to see fresh eyes getting their first taste of AC with the newest iteration. I enjoyed the mindset of keeping yourself fresh to attain that perspective.
  • @thatguy5233
i appreciate that you didn't just upload a gameplay. you cared to properly introduce your average audience to this game
  • @danflak6363
The AC series is the reason I tried Demons Souls on launch all those years ago. It’s so awesome to see this cycle go full circle & now bring fans back to AC.
  • @SilverGlint
Congratulations Iron, I think this might be my favorite overview so far. Your perspective is much appreciated, and It becomes quite apparent the game resonates with you. Welcome aboard, Raven!
  • @Cracks094
Quick tip: even tho most missions feel like you aren't there to explore, you can find a bunch of interesting things if you do. In earlier games there have been some secret parts hidden in stages and i'm confident you'll be suprised in AC6 what you can find off the beaten path. Also: Experiment with your build! All parts can be sold back for full price so you can test out everything to your hearts content!
  • @naindoza
That was a perfect overview for Souls veterans that have no clue about AC. Incredibly well done! Very detailed but still concise. The way you approach all your videos is just really enjoyable to watch. Thanks man.
  • Is it weird to be proud of Pineapple to have grown to the point of being able to FACE TO FACE interview the director of a FromSoft game? Like damn dude if theres any sign you made it on youtube here it is lol
  • @GamerHedghog
I can’t wait to see challenge runs with like “melee tank treads only” or something, this game is gonna be awesome!
  • @Dryskle
Miyazaki actually got his start at From Software working on Armored Core games, and the first two games he directed were Armored Core 4 and its direct sequel, Armored Core: For Answer. Fun fact: our favorite frenemy Patches actually originated in Armored Core: For Answer as "Patch the Good Luck", where he'll fight you with a partner then appropriately grovel for mercy and flee if you kill his partner first.
