Next week: "I played 1 more Souls-Like you've actually heard of"
  • @Elcopollo
29:23 That's actually Slavic mythology. The hut with the chicken legs is the house of Baba Yaga, who is basically a very powerful and wise old witch that lures children into her house, cooks and eats them. She is inherently evil, but sometimes can help heroes in achieving their goals. That old lady who came out of the hut, I'd assume, is her.
  • @TheNeonLynx
"The House with Chicken legs" and the Old Woman are definitely Baba Yaga and her home from Slavic Folklore. They are both quite the characters. Baba Yaga is a witch that kind of does what you expect from her. She eats/harms those that fear her while she helps/blesses those that have confisdence and seek help. Meanwhile her House can be controlled by commands but it is alive and doesnt always listen.. (I might be wrong on some details its been a long while.)
  • As a norwegian it was funny to see the northern light gameplay. It was characters i recognised from childhood books and the fact that they all were hostile was hilariously accurate.
  • @ChengTeoh
"Why was there a bear trap on the table?" ... obviously to stop Goldilocks from eating the porridge ... oops wrong fairy tale.
  • @arthurdurham
Please don't stop making these. Even if you need to change what type of games you cover, it's just fun watching you try out obscure steam games. I always get excited when another of these is in my subscriptions
  • Northern Journey seems to lean heavily into the Nordic troll/hag/fey folklore, where anything that might seem benevolent at first is more than likely one of the above types of creature trying to lure unwary travellers into a trap of some manner. I particularly like the one that offers to ferry you across but then throws away the paddle to attack you, very clever - and very fitting for the theme.
  • @Finnecable
Northern Journey is such an experience. Also I think the rock sling might be one of the most satisfying weapons I've ever used in an FPS.
  • @baaron7
The "Hut on Chicken Legs" is from the Baba Yaga myth, a sort of witch from Slavic mythology
  • @Rs15z
"What mythology is this from?" Slavic. A witch lives in a hut on bird legs.
  • @natebardwell
You know as I sit here and play Elden Ring while I watch, I can't help but feel a bit cheated that I get this crap while you're playing these works of art.
  • @Shazed39
15:23 i can see this as a doomlike type game where you move faster around the map constantly picking up the spells and firing them.
  • @DiMacky24
The hut on chicken legs is from Slavic mythology, it's the home and steed of Baba Yaga, an old witch who is at times evil and at times helpful.
  • @mattydog8450
This series is getting me through the final week till Elden Ring
  • I love how every time you play the "MORE Souls game" dumpster diving experience. The AMOUNT of Souls-like games on Steam is exploding, expoditionally.
  • @julesy6922
I actually really liked the art style on Northern Journey. It has that low fidelity but on purpose look that kinda works sometimes.
  • @BTMadness
Seven years ago, I saw a man ruin people in PvP in DS2 with two giant clubs while a space jam/lupin the 3rd Mashup played. Today, I saw that same man fight Baba Yaga's Chicken Hut. Truly, we live in the best possible time line. I look forward to your Elden Ring content, Pineapple :)
  • @DogginsFroggins
I used to think "what garbage" but now that I'm toying around with Unity these actually inspire me.
  • For those also amused by the house on chicken legs, this is actually the myth of "Baba Yaga", an old Slavic piece of folklore where there's this Witch that usually flies around in a mortar and uses it's pestle as a weapon (yes, I know, very strange) and she lives in the forest in a house with chicken legs. To those that play 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons, it might be familiar to them because there's art in the Dungeon Master's Guide on the page 70 where it is depicted to be stomping an adventuring party! :)
  • @utes5532
lmao I legit thought "Mortal Rite looked fairly intriguing for a pre-alpha, maybe with a few more years of work they can make this into something worth trying" and then Pineapple said that they're looking to release this spring.
