Why are adults (me) watching a preschool show about a family of cartoon dogs? To get a better understanding, I watched every Bluey episode and then made a video about it.

As a Canadian, I sincerly apologize for the creation of the monster known as Caillou. I hope you will accept this apology, as we are trying to make things right.

Fun fact from an Aussie: A lot of the child voice actors (for bluey, bingo and some of their friends) are just children of the production team. They aren't listed in the credits to somewhat protect them and give them privacy since they're so young and becoming known at that age from such a popular show can become harmful. I just thought that was cool.
  • I'm a pediatric nurse & I have to say, hearing Bluey in the background while in a patient's room is so much more soothing than any other kids cartoon. It's also very nice to see patients of all ages enjoying the show, from toddlers to preteen.

As the only Australian on TheOdd1sOut team, I feel it was a legal obligation to work on this video 💖

Bandit has become a role model for me. Another notable one for me is Uncle Iroh

bingo talking to a leaf bug is just the most adorable thing I’m crying that episode was amazing 😭😭

what's also really cool about the colour usage in Bluey is that they only use colours that people AND DOGS can see, it truly is an amazing show for everyone

Fun fact, Bandid (The dad) is a archaeologist (Digs up bones) and Chilli (The mum) is an Airpot Security Guard (Sniffer Dog). The parents have real life dog trait jobs and its awsome.

“They do look a little angry. Perhaps they’re still in the Old Testament!” This is the best line.

The crossed arms as soon as James said “video essay” is just perfection

As a parent this show is genuinely a great tool for several reasons. Not just tips on handling certain situations, but also just general validation that parenthood is hard. I like the ever-present theme that we dont need to beat ourselves up over every mistake as parents as long as we model accountability and self-improvement to our kids.
  • When the animators are so good that you can’t tell if it’s actually from the show or made by the team

Fun fact: this show was originally made to teach adults good parenting but after its inital launch they saw kids loved it and went a different route and decided to make it a show for kids with parental teaching elements thrown in the mix
  • Bro, I just watched "The Sign", and I just would say that is the best Bluey's episode (even over Sleppytime, Baby Race or Cricket). It had everything. I mean, moments like when Bingo's crying or when Bandit ripped the sign off where so emotional; then Chilli tackling Bandit and crying on his shoulder, then kids running around the house, watching everything around, then the moment when Chilli takes out of the box the rug and they share the fish & chips (with the amazing animation of them while behind them is that "Golden sunset", all of that while episode was playing one of the best songs I've ever heard in an animated series. Funny detail is thats thanks to the girls trying to tell to Stripe and Bandit that "Wedding was off", Chilli decides to go with the girls to go and look for Frisky. Then when they make the first stop at Juice shop Bluey found a coin (this is really important); then Chilli founds out where Frisky could be, so they went to the hill. When they found her. Then when Chilli left her alone with Rad, they when to the telescope and Muffin stuck Bluey's coin in there (and they finally left it). Then all happend; the wedding, the house got sold, they were leaving; but right in that point we can see the dogs that bought the house in the same telescope where girls left the coin, then he used it and they saw that Winston dad's house was on sale, so they decide to don't buy Hellers house. Then when Bandit received the call from the real state agent; Joe Brum (Director and Creator of Bluey) and Ludo Studios gave us the best finish of a season that I've seen in a cartoon (Just after Regular Show's ending). But it wouldn't be like that hard without that music in the ending; music and vocals were perfectly fitted in the right moments, all meanwhile Hellers were just "living the moment" sitting on the kiwi rug, eating their fish and chips. It seems that everything worked out. 💙🧡

i feel like all of those "adult" concepts James mentioned are important to introduce children to. I also feel that they do it in a way that children can begin to understand. A lot of us grow up and "realize our parents are people, too," and I love that Bluey addresses those issues for young children. Yes, your parents are supposed to take care of you, but they also deserve some leeway. They have issues we didn't understand, and I think it is good that Bluey introduces children to this concept in a way that isn't overwhelming.

I never thought I would ever see the day that James would make a video on an Australian dog show for kids. Edit: Nathan Manthei informed me that it's actually for everyone. My bad.
  • @addisonandharper
The creator of the show went through four years of child psychology just so he can make the best children’s show ever
  • The new Bluey episodes are on a whole new level, ghost basket and the sign 😢 they’re amazing.

Bro I’m a high schooler, and it’s a thing for me and a friend to watch an episode of bluey every time we hang out
