Even if you're not kind to your body, your body will still try its best to protect you. That's a true friend.

Whenever you feel down, just remember your immune system is always there for you
  • I know this might sound stupid, but seriously, having been exposed to this channel and watched a lot about immune system, I started to love myself more and more and appreciate my body like never before as I’ve been suffering from depression and nothing could make me motivated. Yet these mere educational scientific videos can. Those tiny cells fighting for me do make me feel bad about my past suicidal thoughts. No joke
  • As someone who suffered from suicidal thoughts/ depression I can say it makes you feel so crazy that you could think about ending your own life when they’re are literally millions of individual cells working together to keep you alive every single day! Videos like this make me appreciate my life so much more

I love how even if they can't win the battle, they still spend the rest of their lives holding the ink in place
  • 5:00 "They vacuum up all the particles they can fit into their bodies and surround the larger ones trapping them in the only prison they can build: themselves" 🥺🥺

I like how this is just strictly an informative video, and not a tattoo shaming video.
  • My old science teacher got a tattoo of a macrophage, knowing that her own macrophages would forever be eating its particles. Christie, wherever you are, you were quite the character.
  • I love how your immune system can be in a literal war while you're doing almost about just anything (and it does a good job at defending you)

Another reason to think twice about getting a tattoo is three letters M R I. I have a full sleeve and two smaller tattoos. The sleeve was done in 2004 and the other two smaller ones in the late 1980's. In 2017 I had my first MRI due to a life-threatening infection that was migrating to my brain. The MRI tech told me not to move so although all of my tattoos were getting hot, I didn't move or say anything. After my emergency surgery which I had a few days later, I notice my arm started killing me. I had gotten third degree burns on all of my tattoos, my sleeve being the most damage. That is how I found out that the tattoo inks that were used contained heavy metals and the MRI machine tried to remove those metals from my body. My arm was swollen, inflamed and small lumps appeared. It was agony. I was treated with antibiotics and steroids for a month. To this day you can see the burn scars on that arm and it is now larger and slightly deformed compared to my right arm. I had to go back to the emergency room twice because the pain, inflammation and small lumps came back and that was in 2019 and 2021. I was treated with antibiotics and steroids again. I can't imagine what would have happened to me if my tattoo was a chest one. Be warned and make sure you know what inks are being used. You never know if you will need an MRI in the future.

As a tattoo artist who used to think i’ll work in STEM as an adult this is surely one of my fav kurzgesagt video! Thank you for making this one!
  • @oksanakaido8437
This needs a follow up video about scars - what they do to your skin, what cells are involved and why they can stay around for years or your entire life.
  • @wrjazziel
This video is more than informative, it has a deep meaning with all the visuals and the couples appearing with their significant other(s), and at the end a tattoo of your immune system ❤
  • @shockwave1986
After watching this, I’m so glad I never got a tattoo and have much more appreciation for the hard work my body does everyday.
  • @gamesgames3318
I cant believe an animated video is convincing me not to get a tattoo when my family has repeatedly failed to 😂
  • As a tattoo artist this is fantastic information, I might make it a requirement for new clients to watch it right before the tattoo.
  • @jujuoof174
Love these videos, they are so well-crafted, well-explained, and beautiful!
  • @gwenmph
It’s funny that this popped up on my feed the day before I’m about to go in for another session on my sleeve. Thanks for the video!
