I grew up in a very prejudice home. I'm as white as they come, but after serving 8 years in the military not only did it open my mind, but my heart as well. I thank God for people like Sidney Poitier who stepped up and showed the world how beautiful we all are.

When Sidney Poitier passed it felt like I loss a family member...I'm 65yrs old, and as a child in the 60's my father would take me to the movies to see every new movie he was in. He gave me pride in being a young black male growing up in the Bronx New York. I grew up with him in my life and I truly love and will miss Uncle Sidney...R.I.P.

I had to find and watch this again. When the news broke of Mr. Poitier’s passing I remembered watching him receiving the Kennedy Center Honors. Rest in Power Sir. We will always remember your quiet but powerfully dignified way you held yourself.

I feel like Sidney Poitier should be in history books.

Rest In Peace - our Bahamian-American legend. If any of you happen to visit The Bahamas, make sure to take a trip to Cat Island, where his parents were from, and where he grew up before going to the USA. We mourn his passing but grateful for the legacy he left for The Bahamas and, the world 🙏♥

One of the finest actors to ever grace the silver screen. RIP Mr. Poitier.
  • My first Sidney Poitier movie was 'To Sir With Love' in my teens. I still remember Sidney as a teacher who tried to reform a class of incorrigibles with affection and dedication. Your memories will never fade away.

Oh how I loved him. I named my youngest son after him, and when I did, I was critcized. I'm so thankful and grateful I did. My son is 37 yrs old and the best young son a mother could be proud of. I'll miss Sir Sidney Poitier, but he's left us with a great legacy of film. Not only a great actor, but director as well. RestInPeace....🕊️💔 You are loved. 😘💋❤️❤️❤️

His movies made a great impression on me as a young girl - particularly To Sir With Love, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, and Heat of the Night. Actors today don't hold a candle to the giants that graced the screen back in the day.

You were a brilliant actor and now you're up with your fellow peers . God Bless your soul and R.I.P Mr Tibbs. Rest with the angels
  • Long time ago my husband I met him and his wife. It was back in 1954 in Gimble's basement in the record department. We were so very young. He was so handsome and just starting his career. I will never forget you Sir.
  • @jrcorpuz51
"They call me Mr. Tibbs!" Classic line from In the Heat of the Night - delivered with much timber and force from Sidney Poitier. Rest in Peace, sir!
  • @sa-iw4dr
