I entered the Pokémon US National Championships, where players compete to earn an invite to the Pokémon World Championships. In order to make my goal, I need to place at least 4th - here's what happened.

Wolfe not mentioning at the start that the one player to win worlds while going to day one was actually him in 2016 is the true world champ difference
  • @prium4282
"Only one player has ever managed to win to the championship from day -1 and thankfully that's me" one of the coldest lines i heard.
  • @Zihark94
You know you've build a good team if the whole playerbase suddenly panics
  • @fartman2038
Wolfey is really lucky this Michael guy didn't play against him in the tournament. He had a really creative team and probably has a chance at the world championships.
  • @calook1334
The fact that Wolfey accidentally created a meta-defining "new balance" team at Hartford in like a week is the dictionary definition of "world champ difference"
  • @melissaalba7891
Imagine being so good at pokemon that the team YOU MAKE sends almost all of your competitors into a mass panic
  • @SayaAensland
With all the people Wolfe consults with while team building, maybe the real world champ difference was the friends we made along the way.
  • Wolfey's storytelling skill has improved significantly since the old 1 hour intro days and it's inspiring to watch
  • @Lol-zw8ks
The fact Wolfe said “having the element of surprise would make things easier, but I don’t need things to be easy in order to win” is the true World Champ Difference

This man really is the protagonist of competitive Pokémon. That “And that player I mentioned earlier? ‘Twas me!” at the end could literally only come out the mouth of a protagonist.

I love how Wolfey is basically the embodiment of "Nothing is impossible because I make it possible"
  • @naggl3s
I love how Wolfey's storytelling has improved so much with these summaries of his tournament runs. Wolfe explains pokemon in such a way that even if you only sort of know pokemon, you can still follow along, and Wolfe puts so much setup into the tournament that you're invested in how he will do given what he did to get there. Love your vids, Wolfe, hope you're able to do well in worlds!

This is the second time Wolfe has managed to leak his team by doing too well in showdown and stadium games xD
  • @loose9737
Man, Wolfey is literally the embodiment of suffering from success.
  • This video tells a really great story. His team use the different Pokémon and strategies he developed over the season. He sacrificed Hartford regionals to keep the team a secret, ACCIDENTALLY got first in the world on Showdown and the ladder, had his team leaked, fought through hard counters and copies of his own team, and still did pretty well. But the story isn’t over yet. Good luck in Worlds Wolfey! We’ll all be cheering for you!

I've watched a lot of your content, and a lot of longer style narrative videos. Genuinely speaking, I've never been so heavily captivated and invested in a narrative in my life. Incredible writing, all the highs and lows you could ever want, fantastic commentary on the creation of the team, the team itself, and the battles, an immense feeling of tension felt during every match, all matched with such fantastic choices for music. You've made plenty of bangers, and this is easily my new favorite video from you. Feel proud for not only an impressive tournament against such tremendous odds, but for sharing it in such a truly captivating way. I've never watched Pokemon Worlds live before, this time I will. Best of luck man. Make the miracle run happen once more. You've got it in you, we all know it.
  • Wolfey getting top of the ladder accidently AGAIN, this time being the Scarlet and Violet ladder, is really funny
  • @zb778
The team leak was nuts, imagine making a really good and unique team, getting to number 1 on both of the most prolific Pokémon ladders, only for everyone to find it, use it or start counter teaming you and YOU specifically. Wolfe’s got my respect for handling that, as well as Carson. I can tell this video was a product of passion, very enjoyable watch :)
  • @chocoboko123
Man, I'm really sorry that happened to you, Wolfey. It's clear how hard you and your friends worked on that team, and you were still able to bounce back and try your best. That's why you will always be the world champion to me no matter how the season goes.
  • @RoyalPear
this is the best pokemon video i've seen
