Lawyers and First Nations leaders speak with reporters in Ottawa following the release of the Supreme Court of Canada’s decision in Attorney General of Ontario, et al. v. Mike Restoule, et al. In a unanimous decision, the top court ruled the Crown breached revenue-sharing promises that were included in its 1850 treaties with the Anishinaabe of the upper Great Lakes, and that the Crown must negotiate an increase to resource revenues it owes to them.

Speaking with reporters are Harley Schachter (counsel for Whitesand and Red Rock First Nations), Spencer Bass (counsel for Biigtigong Nishnaabeg First Nation), Chief Allan Odawa Jr. (Red Rock Indian Band), and Chief Lawrence Wanakamik (Whitesand First Nation).
