Monty was right! -- and I'm objecting tiger's coverage --- it's painful to watch

Tiger literally cannot walk a major championship golf course...if he somehow made the cut, he wouldn't be able to walk to last 2 rounds. Because of his physical problems he'll never play a schedule that will allow him to be competitive. When Watson nearly won the British in 2009 at 59, he wasn't physically impaired like Tiger and he was active (and winning) on the Senior (now Champions) Tour.So he was able to be somewhat competitive.

Last four years he’s played in a total of 8 majors. He has 2 WDs, 4 missed cuts, a 60th (where he finished last among those making the cut) and a 47th. He’s done, finished. Why does the media still think it’s 2000. He’s won 1 major since W Bush left office. 1 major in 16 years yet people still think he’s relevant. Pathetic. Move on already.

The Golden Bear is the best. 18 majors 19 second place finishes in majors. It is not even close. If Tiger did not mess up in his personal life it might have been different. Jack is the whole package. It is sad to watch Tiger. A lot of people are through with him. Now it is all about ratings and money.

Agree dan, however, if he shoots another 14 over par, people will no longer be curious to see him play anymore…

such a shame about that car crash, especially after the Masters win in 2019. Was on track to be competitive for a long time. But now can barely walk really.

Thank you for mentioning phil he sure does deserve more coverage from Troon

You cant play 4 times a year at 48 and expect results. He needs to play 10 -12 times to make cuts and 15 - 18 times to have a hope of winning.

Tiger will draw crowds just by his presence. He put golf gear to the front of the stores.

A lot of people enjoy watching Tiger playing poorly - yet it is really tough for his fans to watch him basically failing in these majors.

When Arnold Palmer played the Firestone Course in Akron, Ohio in 1976 , 95% of the gallery followed him when he barely made the cut and hadn't won a tournament in 3 years. Only about 15 or so people were following the leaders. Thousands of people were a part of Arnie's Army that day as well as many more days throughout his career. Sometimes you root for a guy because you just like the cut of his jib.
  • I have been a huge Tiger fan since I was a kid, but the media obsession with him needs to come to an end. The brutal truth is, he isn't physically capable of actually competing in a tournament anymore. He can't play often enough to have his game in sufficient shape. He can show flashes here and there, but the competition at the highest levels is too steep for someone who is struggling to walk a course for 72 holes. He can make a few cuts, but unless he has significant improvement in his health and mobility, he's never going to compete again. His 2019 Masters was a gift and a miracle we should all cherish. It's time to accept his star is fading for good.

Let someone else have a dream, He’s done,he did it himself. I agree quite showing someone who is 13 over par.
  • @805weatherman
I agree. Cover the actual sport.. the nostalgia can be part of that but Dan was right.. we can't be like.. oh, back to the leader for a second. Not making cuts make it easier to do. This is not to say people don't want to see Tiger or that he isn't still great. No slight intended. Trust me, the network of choice for the weekend badly wants him to make cuts. They'll show him if it is the right thing or not.
  • @raynman67
Are you worried about all the other dudes that missed the cut?
  • @rlevitta
I’m one who doesn’t want to see Tiger playing poorly. Frankly, I don’t think he could even compete on the senior tour. Show me the guys playing well and who are in contention.
  • @albaruch7893
It’s because half the people don’t like tiger so they’re rooting against him. Combine the other half that like/love him and everybody wants to see.
