I've been detailing for over 30 years and I always use a pressure washer demonstrating on a car that is almost brand new of course it's going to look new when you just use a little mild degreaser and spray it off and wipe it down. On an engine that all the plastic is dried up in starting to fade you absolutely need dressing, I've never had an issue

Who else impressed with that oil filter location?
  • I did this yesterday on my 10 year old vehicle after dealing with a rodent who took up shop when our car sat for a few months. Worked pretty well. I also covered the battery compartment, which was in a container of sorts that I was concerned wouldn't drain. Thanks for the video and direction.

Thanks for the video. I finally did this today on my 2011 MX-5. Works as advertised. Hardest part was getting the plastic bag on the alternator.
  • Thank you very much for an easy, straight to the point and no bullshit guide for cleaning the engine bay.

Nice I learned something new and very useful I love to maintain my car but don't have the time that I used to so this helps a lot

For those worried about using water, just don't get water directly into your air intake or spray heavily onto electrical connectors. Just use a light spray that you would for watering plants to rinse your cleaning products off. And for those that don't have anything to dry the water off, I just used a few rags to get as much off as I could then I just started the car, closed the hood and let it idle for about 10 minutes, you'll hear squeaking probably from your belts for a little bit but that'll go away. Once I left it to dry a little I took it out for a wee drive to get rid of any small pools of water.

Finally got around to cleaning my 2018 Accord engine. This method worked with great results! I covered the alternator and air intake only. I spent about 15 min blowing everything dry with a shop vac. Then i let the engine dry off for another hour in the sun. The dryer the engine the less chance of an issue. Thanks for the video!

Hi there Silver Cymbal , I remember the video you did on windshield wipers it was a good tip but because of the comments I was cracking up laughing, this one's good too, made me want to clean my engine, just remember to put down some cardboard under the car to catch grease it could stain your driveway. Thanks again for a good idea.👍😁

I purchased a bottle of this from Amazon as recommended and just washed the engine compartment in my 2005 Lotus Elise. It took me 10 minutes and looks absolutely brand new! Thanks so much for this recommendation! 👍
