Tips to Choose Safe Hotels (This one is where they do the DNRS seminar)

Published 2019-10-03
How I look through various elements in a hotel to assess for potential mold. Looking at offgassing and scents as well. This hotel is one that is used for the Annie Hopper DNRS seminars so it seemed like a good one to review for those with sensitivities.

I'm trying to cover a lot in 5 min so these are some clarifications:

I actually should say the second room i did not pick up offgassing at all.
And the scents in the rooms was not noticeable for me, but the carts in the hallway were.
I don't know for sure what caused reaction in the lobby - I am guessing at slab or central HVAC.
The windows do open, in some rooms it's only a little, others have balconies with a door.

Such a great idea doing a review like this, Corinne. Your knowledge and personal experience is so valuable and helps so many people. PS I hope you enjoy the event and your stay 😊

I could infer some tips from this video, but it seemed like more of a review of this specific hotel. I’d love to see a video with specific things to look and watch out for when considering other hotels that aren’t this specific one.

I paid extra for a room that had a balcony so I could have the windows open. My first room was below grade and it was musty. I checked 5 rooms total.

I stayed there for the DNRS seminar. Most people quietly complained of mold, even though that is not allowed at DNRS.

Cool idea. Maybe develop a rating system because people process that info easily. Great job here covering all the bases! So are you going?
