  • Under investigation? You demolished the wrong house. Sue them now.
  • @Crismodin
This isn't an accident, this is negligent. An accident is like, "oops I backed into your vehicle, let's exchange insurance and get this sorted" not "oh hey, demolished your entire house and just left it there, our bad" - No, you better pay for the entire house. They don't owe you an apology, they owe you a ton of money, they messed up, publicly shame them if they can't do the right thing.

Boarded up for 15 years? Lady, you just hit the jackpot! Not only did it get demolished for free, you now sue the pants off the demo company!
  • This idiot company owes her WAY more than just an apology! They have a moral obligation to replace her home for free and help pay for anything she needs to replace. They need to be held accountable BIG TIME! They need to pay a fine and some people need to be FIRED! She should SUE! Unbelievable, unforgivable, unjust, appalling, disgusting life-spoiler! I don't think I could live with this if this happened to me.

File a police report and get a lawyer. Take pictures, get receipts, and go to court house to see if they have any information on that house. Document everything and figure out who the guy was who did it... Sue them!
  • @NaturallyPaige_
I think I’d honestly pass out! This is terrible. The fact that she/the family hasn’t even received a simple apology is beyond me…
  • @debbystardust
I’ve heard multiple stories of “accidental demolitions” from Atlanta recently. This is really, really concerning.

I am the third generation owner of our family home. People don’t realize that this is not just a home, it was a place where family memories were made for years and years. A new home would not BEGIN to replace that! That company definitely owes the woman, a new home, and for the old debris to be hauled away as they say they do. A simple apology would have been so good, and a vow to make things right. If they done that, the woman would not have been on the news, and their company would not be getting all the bad rep! I hope she gets at least something in return here.

No way you dont check, double, triple, and quadruple check before knocking and entire house down.
  • She will be getting calls from every Plaintiff lawyer in GA. It's an easy case on the top, but mainly it's going to be a fight between insurance company lawyers. You don't get to, "Oh, I got the wrong address" and drive off when you destroyed someone's house, this isn't pizza delivery.
  • This happens all the time. I feel like companies should require the owner of the home to sign a piece of paper on the site before they do anything day of to prevent things like this happening.
  • @whomeverwherever
I’ve heard of tree removal companies rolling up and removing the wrong person’s tree before which is insane also. With any removal/ demo, there should be a requirement that the homeowner is present and consulted before work begins. And if the home is condemned, the appropriate rep should be there to confirm prior to anything being torn down.
  • @LordBrittish
“Working to rectify the situation” is probably code for “Our lawyer is still trying to come up with something”
  • Can't believe they checked the address and realized they tore the wrong house down. How could they be so careless. They need to pay for a brand new house built there.
  • @CitroTeam
This has happened many times. A soldier serving in Iraq came home and there was no home. Another was in the hospital convalescing from an operation and when he came out he realized he was another homeless person. In a country of crazy people, that's what happens.
  • @rome79735
As far as I see this, that company owes her a house, and an apology.
  • @kis4beauty
It's hard to believe this is a mistake. Incompetence isn't even the best description. I'm appalled... no amount of money can repair this situation.
  • Before tearing down a house occurs, the demolition company would have gone out and spoke to the owners, took pictures of the property, took pics of what was to be torn down, discussed liabilities and insurance, inspected the property, discussed and resolved potential issues, verified utilities were off and physically disconnected from the home, cleanup responsibilities, and finally the cost of all services. No one just shows up and tears down a house and just leaves it.. There has to be more to this.
