Intellivision Amico Fans Have Lost the Plot

Once Tommy stepped down as CEO it was over. Tommy would never step down unless he knew it was over. He drove the company right into the ground then jumped ship.

Asked for my refund as well...in my case, because of conversion rates, I actually lost money here. When I preordered, the $100 USD was $136.29 Canadian and when my refund was issued, I got $122.09 CDN back. LOL.... And, for the record, I was banned from said group as well as I had responded to somebody's post asking if their current debt load was concerning to anyone....oh well; what can you do...the fact that they silence paying customers who have genuine questions and concerns about the product and trying to twist the narrative in a positive light speaks volumes...it really does.

Out of the "Everything is fine! Everything is good!" crowd DJC Game Studios is the saddest. He's been huffing Intellivision's farts for so long he completely believes the system is still on track for a global launch.

I was a member of the Amico Facebook site for about a year, and very recently just left the group. I am a huge fan and supporter of the original Intellivision, by Mattel, and have had my Intellivision II hooked up to a television to be played, since I got it on Xmas eve in 1983. So, I was totally on board with the Amico! The problem is, just as you are explaining, Intellivision Entertainment has been behaving in a way that most people outside of the Amico group would call shady. They were telling us one thing, while hiding facts. We were being lied to, and with all of the delays and excuses of why the games were not ready, people have been losing faith in both the Amico and Intellivision Entertainment. I saw firsthand at how toxic and biased the Amico Facebook group is, and continues to be. For a long time, I posted nothing. Just a couple of weeks ago, I made a post about how I can see both sides of the argument, and how time will tell what will eventually happens, were met with toxic responses, where a few of the members labeled me as a troll and resorting to name calling and bully tactics, stating that I constantly berate the system and the group's members, which is completely untrue, as I had stated that I literally made my first post a couple of weeks ago. When I complained to the moderator about this, he suggested that I not post topics which may upset other members. HUH? So, the toxic fanboys, who bully others are given a pass, while the level-headed fans with questions and some doubts are told not to post? The final straw came when I made a post, suggesting that moderators keep a closer eye on those who are leaving toxic remarks and bullying those who are just trying to have a conversation. Quite a few members liked my comment, and a couple them even responded in a civil fashion, stating that it is getting really toxic on the site. Later that day, my comment was taken down, and I was told that it was taken down, because my comment was seen as toxic. I posted that I have had enough and that I was leaving the group, citing childish and immature behavior, which was being allowed by the moderators. I then left the group and never looked back. What is really sad is that these toxic members are not only pushing away friendly conversation for both sides. They are also contributing to destroying the reputation of both the Amico and all things Intellivision.

Agreed! I was banned from the club last week for asking "So, in light of the news from Amico saying the console may now never come out, what does everyone think?". I am a backer, I have a dog in the fight, not trying to cause issues, just genuinely curious, but they were having none of it - banned!!!

At like $120 bucks, I could see this as a fun thing. The thing is, If it’s supposed to be aimed at non-gamers, what is all this talk of a $300 system? You won’t appeal to non-gamers with that. Nintendo hit gold with the Wii, almost by accident. It was only $250 when it came out, because they knew they couldn’t charge a premium for old tech. Also, It had non-gamer games, sure, but the only reason it got any attention was because gamers would SHOW the Wii to their families. Without that connection, this thing just becomes something that non-gamers will continue to not care about. Even Nintendo knows that if you want to go blue ocean, you have to have a low price on the hardware. That’s why they slashed the price of the 3DS when it didn’t take off. This whole thing is just absurd at this point. The creators blaming the pandemic just remind me of Quibi , if you can remember that one.

I am a huge fan of the original Atari 2600. The new VCS is a joke. My friend bought a used laptop for $80.00 that does everything the VCS does and more. It emulates every old Atari game and even plays the new Tempest 4000 which the VCS does not even have. Anyone interested in the VCS should just learn how to use emulators and they will be very happy. I had high hopes for the AMICO but it has been clear for over a year now that the product will fail and fail big-time.
