It's been more than two years now since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Since then, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian men have been called up to serve in the military. Many have not returned. We spoke to one mother who is coming to terms with her own loss. Ukraine is trying to mobilize more of its population for military service, including those living abroad. How is the country's recruitment drive going so far?

Where are the children of Boris Johnson ? They must be recruited to assist Ukraine.

My heart goes out for poor Ukrainians, fighting US's proxy war. What an absolute tragedy !

But Ukraine said they only lost 32.000 troops why you need more if that's true
  • If Russia outnumbers Ukraine by ten to one in terms of manpower, that means you've been lying about Ukrainian casualties. Russia has deployed less than 500,000 troops in total. In the beginning, Ukraine had 700,000+. By ten to one, it means Ukraine has lost over 600,000 soldiers.
  • “Listed as missing” is quite common over here, corrupt officials just don’t wanna pay families for KA.
  • @BlueredCatalan
A Ukrainian soldier said that some KIAs are reported as "Missing" so their unit commander keeps receiving their salary. The soldiers family waits for their "missing" son to be found but in reality he's long gone and his wife and children don't receive any benefits because of corrupt unit commanders. However this is not the case throughout the AFU, many units respect their fallen soldiers but there are still some bad apples.

In peace sons bury their fathers. In war farther bury their sons :(😢

Peace NOW! It’s horrible for the people of Ukraine.
  • I cant imagine that people forcefully conscripted will make good and reliable soldiers. And who can blame them, I would not want to be cannon fodder either.
  • @Quantum-1157
Hopefully feminists globally are pushing to make military service compulsory for Ukrainian women age 21 to 60 just as men between 16 and 60 are being pushed to join.

We all know how they gonna increase the manpower shortage. Its called forceful Mobilisation

    Conscription is slavery.
  • @jptrainor
Imagine the outrage if any western country conscripted 18 year olds in 2024. And imagine the huge fraction of them who would not be physically or emotionally fit for service.

I believe that she is confused on the numbers as currently Russia has an artillery advantage of 7-1 down from 10-1 early war estimates. She stated that Russian troops outnumber Ukrainian troops 10-1. Russia does not have a 10-1 advantage in numbers deployed in Ukraine. Ukraine has roughly between 800K to 1 Million troops depending on who you ask. Russia very certainly does not have 9 - 10 Million troops in Ukraine. If anything Ukraine outnumbers Russia as most sources estimate the total Russian forces at 1.1 to 1.4 million even on Ukrainian estimates. It is highly unlikely that all of these troops are deployed in Ukraine as Russia has vast border and coastal regions that Russia has to deploy it’s troops on. (Not just in Ukraine.) Not choosing any sides, just pointing out that even according to Ukraines numbers they are not outnumbered 10-1 and it is very misleading to say so.

September 7, 2021: “The European Commission (EC) will study the consequences of the law in Belarus to stop issuing documents to citizens outside the country. Peter Stano, a representative of the EU foreign policy service, stated this at a press conference in Brussels: “The European Union strongly condemns this decision, and we will continue to stand with the people of Belarus.” April 24, 2024: “The European Commission did not comment on the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to limit consular services to Ukrainian men abroad: “It is not for us to comment on the decision of the Ukrainian government on the measures that need to be taken in the context of the conflict”...
