Canmore-based wildlife photographer John E. Marriott was camping with his family when he witnessed a grizzly showdown between two of Banff's biggest, baddest bears right next to his campsite.

    Luckily we have had the honour of seeing both of these, again they were really close to each other, the Boss sprawled out near the railway line just south of Johnston Canyon and Split Lip just to the north of it.

    Those are some very large bears and I would not want one of them in my area. We have Black Bears here in Arkansas and I fear them too and would not want to find one of them chasing me.
