Scene in which the slump that Roy Hobbs was in, turns into a towering home run that smashes the clock at Wrigley Field. A woman stands up in the crowd to give him hope, a woman that he once knew.

When I see the scenes from “ The Natural” they bring me back to my youth and the love affair I had with baseball. We played from the time we got up and out, till our moms wanted us all home for dinner. Truly the perfect game where time doesn’t matter and the game is just played till it’s final conclusion. What a wonderful time when Baseball was America’s game and all was good and life was pure. I miss that America, as flawed as it may have been there was still an innocence and sense of belonging being an American and loving our game Baseball where time stood still and all was good.

When people ask me why I love baseball so much, I tell them to watch “The Natural”. If they still don’t understand, they never will

There has yet been a Sports film to display such outstanding human talent then The Natural , It is quintessentially the greatest depiction of an individual That was completely aware of his own greatness and that in the sport of baseball would become the greatest player the world had ever seen, I would love to see a sequel with his son Roy "Savoy" Hobbs III, and show that his fathers natural gift, was passed on to the next generation only with a hitch, the talent can only be achieved with absolute self awareness, and unquestionable esteem, the lack of certain assuredness, will be his Achilles heel living in the shadow of greatness of his father Roy Hobbs.
  • The Natural and Field of Dreams are the two best baseball movies ever 👍

just the looks (smiling from ear to ear) on the faces of Farnsworth and Brimley after the clock face shattered is priceless.

I love this movie and Glenn Close is one of the finest actors, ever. Redford was at the top of his game at that time.
  • That shot of the standing old man in the crowd motioning with his hand how that baseball ⚾️ took off after Hobbes connected. It choked me up when I saw that scene in the movie because he reminded me of my late uncle whom I went to many ballgames with when I was a kid. He resembled him and reacted the very same way my uncle would have.

That overhead shot of Robert Redford watching it hit the clock as the photographers flash goes off and the music starts is brilliant

Every boy of my generation wanted to be a baseball player like that. I love this movie. 😊

A little known fact: The movie was filmed in Buffalo, NY in War Memorial Stadium, one of the last old time baseball stadiums. They couldn't get enough extras for the big game scenes so they made hundreds of life-size laser-cut photos of people to fill out the stands. You can still find these photo cut-outs in antique stores around the area.

Crazy to think that I'm in this movie as a little kid and I'm in this scene... I'll never forget going into school with a note from my father saying I was late getting to school because I was up shooting a scene ... the woman in the office who took the note put it in a frame and put it on the wall

One of my favourite films. I'm English and love Cricket but Baseball has the same mystical beauty as our lovely Summer game.
  • I do love how Robert Redford wrote in these Goosebumps moment of hitting clocks and Night Lights. Definitely adds to the movie. Definitely an exciting Goosebump movie of all time when it comes to baseball. Nice job Robert.

The sound of the ball going through the clock is really spectacular. Listen with headphones or close to the speaker. Excellent

This movie and Hoosiers are my top 2 sports movies of all time.

    Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.
  • That part where Roy looks around after strike two seemingly at the girl standing up was actually him reacting to the sounds of Pop Fisher and Red banging on the garbage can. He knew a fastball was coming.
