try nail or thumb tack pointy beds. :)

I think with a relatively low power laser you could probably use some window screen or hardware cloth metal grid. I tried using metal screen material with my 40w CO2 and it worked great until it got cooked in about 2 months of heavy use.

You can also do a kind of bead of nails!!! Sticking nails onto a sheet of plywood or similar this is nice but quite complicated and small

I'm learning towards a cookie cooling rack. ~$5 and found about easily locally.
