'Social media forces you to deny...aspects of you and deny your identity.' Bang on. Likes for banality.

I feel so much better I don’t use Facebook but what’s still depressing is being surrounded by social media addicts
  • @jan050375
i've been off of social media for a while now, life is so much less stressful.

when a Doctor asks a patient if they smoke or drink regarding their personal health habits, using social media should be added..
  • The people who are saying this guy is wrong... go hang out with a 16 yr old for a day and come back.

Love, true connectedness and relationships are a threat to social media.

Just the other day I mentioned that "there's such a thing as too many selfies", and loads of people got triggered and angry with me, and someone even de-friended because of it. So many people are becoming narcissistic and fragile, and social media appears to be making it worse.

This Sam guy is the Encyclopedia of Narcissism. Nobody else even comes close to his knowledge and its 100% accurate.

I left my device at home. Panic! I know precisely where I left it. I know it will still be there when I return. Yet, here I am feeling off kilter and vulnerable. These are not positive feelings. What an eye opener into my own conditioning!
  • Very very interesting. I don't use Facebook or Twitter, never have, and I feel even more validated in my decision now

Damn, this interview was so good, I deleted my Snapchat half way through.
  • @Moorfeeeus
This is immensely accurate. That addictive need for likes, followers, and repost is incredibly toxic.
  • I stopped using social media because I felt many people were not being their authentic selves. I was sad to see the hate wars of people who did not even know the other other then social media. The envy of those who had money to travel and those who did not. I believe short visits makes for long friends. I see people not smiling or interacting positively in the “real world”I smile at others often in public and make an effort to acknowledging them in some way.I notice people not looking up but in a trance like state. Nature is so beautiful and I see so many people missing out on things like a bird singing. I grew up on a farm and people would wave as you drove by each other and gave a quick smile! I refuse to find out what family and friends are doing in life by checking Facebook. They say things like “you missed my birthday party I posted it on Facebook.” Oh I’m not on Facebook I said and this happens often. It causes anger in others that I was not aware of their successes in life. Or a tragedy I was not aware of. Thank you for this wonderful video! I understand now what I was not educated on! I’m glad I watched this video!

So good... so very good. I'm 65 and I couldn't figure out why people (especially young people) seem so bizarre ... and so narcissitically insane ... Thank both of you.
