It depends, Matt. It always depends.

I love how Mr Beast gives matpat a bike and some chocolate and in return he tells millions how to swindle his whole giveaway system

That's cool to hear that you actually won something via an alternative method. I always felt that they were there for the sake of legality but never actually considered when pulling winners. I remember I did something similar for some giveaway but didn't get anything.

I actually remember this story on Reddit that goes like this. There was this guy on a university campas that made a panini cart and was selling paninis for around $3, the faculty said that he had to take down his business because you weren’t allowed to sell food on campas, the very next day he was out with his cart now saying he sold paper towels, one square for $3 and with every purchase you get a free panini.

Whoever gets that free factory in the future, I wish the best of luck to them. There may even be a good chance that they will win because they listened to MatPat's advice here.

This was perfectly timed. I’ve been wondering how Mr. Beast was legally creating lotteries. Honestly, that loophole should be patched though, with it, any lottery could easily be legal.

Pov: you're thirsty after a long hot day, you're driving past a convenience store and you think to yourself "a nice cold coke would go down nicely" you drop in. Hand your last $2.50 over the counter open your cold can only to be greeted with $1 and no coke. You are now $1.50 short from that nice cold beverage you so longed for.

I always figured that food-related lotteries were based on the idea that you're paying to get the guaranteed item (food) and entering to have the chance to win something extra (another portion of the food or a prized item). I honestly never thought about the "no purchase necessary" part... now the legal loophole seems so obvious.

I volunteer at a charity shop in England and we are having an Easter raffle. When the manager was telling us about it, they told us to make sure we stapled a piece of paper with information on it for legal purposes. No one bought any tickets while I was on the till though, so I didn't get to see what was on the paper.

Back in the 80s and early 90s my dad used to have the hobby of entering contests using the alternate methods of entry. He called it his therapy. He spent probably 10 hours a week filling in index cards, addressing envelopes, and reading the newsletter that listed all current contests. Often, you had to be between the ages of 12-18 for a kids prize, so he would put our name down. We ended up with a lot of stuff, even a couple of free trips. Bikes, toys, electronics, office supplies, clothes, kitchen appliances... it was pretty cool, actually. He kept all his supplies in one of the space-agey looking briefcases (pretty rare in the mid-80s)... and he'd sit down in the evening in his study and pop open his briefcase and start hand-writing name, address, and phone number on a 3x5 index card... over and over and over.

Can we just appreciate how Matt repeated himself verbatim on how Red Lobster found a loophole in the illegality of gambling?

There’s a great story about people rigging a mcdonalds contest back in the day this way — great video!
-
Plot twist: MatPat has already won, he's just telling us, how he won...

This was so educational, I would have never known any of this information or how to find it. Such a cool video, thanks to you and your team!

This man really be putting random questions in our minds and solving it in the next 20 minutes-

10:27 I'd like to speak to whoever edited this portion of the video, I thought I was going crazy when MatPat started repeating the same section over. But tbf I don't know which visual edit I prefer either 😂
