In this video, I offer strategies for handling a gifted learner. This is something you may experience in your homeschool if you find yourself with a child who learns at a rate faster than you can keep up with.

This video is part of the "HELP! For Homeschool" Collab. Please check out all of these awesome channels who are making videos as a part of this collab at the playlist right here:    • HELP! For Homeschool Challenges

Glad for these tips and reminders, thank you very much for sharing from Your experience.
  • Hi, thanks for your video, it's great to see somebody going through the same thing as you. I myself am gifted and I suspect that my child is too and I feel what you said about gifted kids learning "too fast" and having to drop curricula. Last year I ordered a gentle letter of the week workbook from Amazon to work on during the lockdown because she was bored and while we were waiting for it to arrive my daughter discovered Leapfrog Letter Factory. After asking me to play the whole thing 3 times in a row she knew all her letter sounds at 2.5yo. So guess who had overgrown her curriculum in the 48 hours it took for it to be shipped? I also get the "tiger kid" part. At the moment she's quite frustrated because she's known her letter sounds for about 8-9 months and keeps asking me to teach her how to read but she's not ready to blend yet. So she gets annoyed about not being able to move forward and I have to calm her down and teach her patience and I'm trying to stall her a little bit and work on phonetic awareness in the meantime to see if she goes through the intellectual leap to be able to read. I definitelly didn't expect parenting to be like this!
  • This is great advice. I'd love to hear more tips about how you are growing in patience and compassion for slower learners, as well.

💖💖💖Thank you so much for making this video! Most people do not understand the challenges in homeschooling a gifted child! It can be intimidating and overwhelming!
  • @raquellochoa
Wow this describes my daughter perfectly and it is very helpful - especially the curriculum tip. I am so cheap! I just want her to finish the curriculum because it is so costly.
  • Lol, I started homeschooling my first child when she was about 3 too! Lol!! Wow, I wish school would have been that easy for me. ♥️ I don't have any kids that are super uber smart like you but I have a couple of kids how have skipped a grade or who get concepts super fast. This information is really good to know! Thank you!
