WELCOME //
I'm Rachel, a mom of three and the oldest in a family of 8 kids. I'm a second-generation homeschooler who is passionate about education. I'm originally from Michigan, but am living overseas. My two young boys and teaching homeschool lessons to my youngest sisters keep me busy, but I make time for writing and for making Youtube videos, too! On this channel, you can expect videos featuring books and homeschool curriculum, homeschool tips for hard days, our journey raising bilingual kids, and vlogs about the intentional adventure that our homeschool lifestyle allows! Subscribe to join our family here:

Expect two videos a week, uploaded at 3:45 p.m. EST on Sundays and Wednesdays.

  • @TriciaPrado
    1. Spelling You See
    2. Picta Dicta (Latin curriculum)
    3. Simply Charlotte Mason’s elementary arithmetic
  • @sarapayne9445
Gentle and classical morning virtues makes my heart ❤️ sing. I LOVE pilot friXon erasable pens. Pentel hi tech erasers are the absolutely best.

I am a huge homeschool nerd. I love talking about curriculum. I have always loved school supplies. 😊
  • 1. Susan Wise Bauer’s Story of the World. 10/10 curriculum- And use it with narration :)
    2. Hand motions and games for language study specifically. Like for declensions for Latin or for vocab review. Games like throwing a ball to practice chants and who says the translation. Four square to practice conjugation review as well as declension puzzles where you cut apart the chart and have students recreate the puzzle, etc. So so fun with elementary level kiddos especially.
    3. primary sources for History and Geography study.
    5. Living Books & read alouds (so many core memories of my mom reading to us at the breakfast table. It really sticks with kiddos).
  • I have lots of favorites…
    1. All About Reading
    2. Explode the Code
    3. Anything from Sonlight
    4. Thriftbooks 😂
    5. Frixion pens
    6. My computer (to make my customized planner pages)
    7. My favorite YouTubers!!!! ❤ Including YOU!
    8. My ProClick binding machine
Just off the top of my head!😊
  • @user-jq9um8wr5w
Rod and Staff first grade reading program. I cannot talk enough about it. It has hearing components, dictation, games, repetitive, engaging work. It is explode the code on steroids but cheaper and MUCH clearer! It is SO so good. Thoroughly explains memory tactics to UNDERSTAND reading, writing, and spelling while teaching to read. It is excellent. Empowering. Fun!
  • Rachel, I love your sincerity and joy! 🥰
Tests are amazing..and I might add to your list of reasons for them the fact that tests help us teachers adjust our teaching to meet the needs of our students and to identify gaps and the need for remedial work.
Here are some things that make my heart go "pitter-patter"😉:
    1. Spiral binding (soooo much easier than three-ring binders!)
    2. Gentle and Classical music and art packs
    3. Canva
    4. The Logic of English
    5. Playing Preschool
    6. Classical Kids music
    7. A printer 😂
    8. Giant wall map (a globe is on my wishlist, too)
    9. The outdoors
    ....and lots more. haha.
  • @justifiedgold
I love a test. Testing in a supportive homeschool environment sounds fab. And gets you set up in case you want to do national or professional testing later - like tests to be registered as an engineer.
  • 1. Narration, we love narration!
    2. Outside exploration to increase attention, observation and for fun
    3. Delightful reading kits
    4. Dry erase boards and markers/small chalk boards and markers
    5. Life of fred
  • Rio has loved some of the elements of Gentle and Classical that Sarah has implemented, and he loves the 3d printed manipulatives from Grandma and Grandpa!
  • @papuakacie
All About Reading, Peaceful Press, and Sonlight HBL are my favorites!
  • This is such a fun topic for a video!
Haha, I loved tests as a kid. Give me a test over a project any day 😃
And LOVE what you said about not waiting to share the riches with preschoolers! I’ve felt this but thanks for confirming it.
Ahh, the joy of a new 15 cent notebook!
Some of my long-time favorites- Story of the World by SWB, especially the first ones. My husband has read them to each and every one of our kids.
Abeka’s A Basic Handbook for Reading; not very glamorous but it’s worked to teach five kids (and counting) to read.
Some new loves: we’ve been loving TGATB science units this year, and Around the World with Picture Books. Also loved MWC for 2nd grade and now kindergarten. We’ll be doing our kindergarten math at the coffee table, and our older kids will say “man that looks like fun. Wish you’d had that math when I was little!” 🤓 ❤❤
  • IEW takes all the guesswork out, and makes it easy for me to teach my kids how to be great writers! Also phonics pathways is my favorite early reader spine resource 😁
  • I love gentle and classical!!! My kids love doing it as well!!! We love memory statements and my kids quiz each other and it even help my older kids!!! I write memory statements for certain things!!! My older kids are learning the sequence one catechisms and where their is a bible verse I can think off I’ll add it to their requirement!!! I love Flashcards and my older kids love acyclic paints!!! I love readers that also enjoyable for me to read as well as I have to read a lot of books!!! I love reading to my younger kids tho!!! We love going on rabbit trails!!! I love my planner!!!
  • @Dreblueskies
    Click - play - like - watch 😊
I must get those flashcards they look beautiful !!
  • @user-ng6nn8bo2g
My go to favourite is Moving beyond the page. And our e-book reader what we use for reading and writing and portfolio building. What we save on book postage we use on art supplies:).
  • I'm a new homeschooler with just a preschooler, but we LOVE Playing Preschool by the Busy Toddler paired with the Gentle + Classical preschool memory statement cards! They complement each other so well!! The Leap Frog Letter Factory video is another favorite.😂
  • 1. Living books and read alouds
    2. Apologia Math
    3. Brighter Day Press morning time guides
    4. Beautiful Feet Books k-3 U.S. geography

A fun video. You bring such a joyful spirit to the homeschool content world!
  • This was so fun to watch and I love how you included a simple spiral notebook! YES! Those are used every year and they are so helpful, affordable and just practical.

My 9yo son is loving MUS and I was just thinking the other day about the first level of Spelling You See for him and then it was the first you mentioned in this video. He has his basic sounds pretty much down (if it is a good brain day) and from what you showed of that book it looks like it might be a good fit to help him start blending letters into words, which is where we are stuck now.

I think my top 5 are:
    1. Math U See
    2. Logic of English
    3. All About Spelling
    4. Read Alouds
    5. Classical Conversations (Challenge)
  • @amandab.6815
    1. My Mardel "A Simple Plan" homeschool planner- it all starts with my planner before I even decide any curriculum for the year
    2. Arteza colored pencils- my kids never liked crayons, and we always had trouble with the tips breaking off when we bought any other brand, that never happens with our Arteza pencils
    3. Blank flashcards- oh so many uses when you can create your own!
    4. All About Reading- in my opinion, it can't be beat
    5. Base 10 blocks, pattern blocks, and linking cubes- that's the power trio for all things elementary math, but we also find reasons to pull them out in other subjects too!
    6. Personal dry erase boards or the simple electronic drawing pads that erase with the click of a button- my kids find it so much more fun to write spelling words or work out math problems on their little boards instead of paper and pencil
