Here I talk about one BIG lifestyle choice that you can make if you want to experience the benefits of raising kids with fewer hours spent in front of a screen. With more and more young children acting as if they're experiencing smartphone addiction and screen addiction these days, is there anythin we as parents can do do help our children have a healthier relationship with screens and to experience the joys of childhood without spending lots of time with digital devices? Parents often feel that they don't like what they see as the effects of too much screen time on their kids, but what can they do about it?

There is something you can do! And it doesn't involve any complicated algorithm for calculating the number of minutes that is correct to spend on screens each day. I don't set screentime limits in my family and I have no intention of doing so. Instead, I do this!

  • “I’m not convinced the speed of learning that it offers is worth the trade off in what childhood looks like” 🙌 absolutely.

Growing up we spent more time outside than inside but I feel like the younger generation these days are just all about technology
  • We just have a shared device, and love it. Hearing this perspective was such a beautiful and refreshing reminder as to why we chose to do this in the first place. ❤❤❤

Rachel, I can sense your passion and urgency for this topic... and it is very relevant to this day and age. I recently did a video called, “My Greatest Distraction..” in which I share my desire to set boundaries for myself with my phone. Our children will only model what they see not what we say. I appreciate you sharing your concern with us all!! Thank you so much for reminding Me as well.. that our kiddos do not NEED technology... (they do get possessive over their items...) and often we as parents use the technology as a “baby-sitter..” I myself have been guilty. So again thank you friend! Blessings! 👏🏽💕

agggggggggh the struggle is so real! Thanks for this discussion!!!
  • Great advice! Levi has just started showing interest in watching tv so this was perfect timing!
  • As always, excellent, on-point thoughts! I was just thinking about this topic this week and wondering where our struggle with our oldest son and screen time was suddenly coming from. You've given me a lot to think about...Thank you. :)

Hi its Victoria from home Educating the mad lads on the husbands phone. We have been grateful for screens during covid it's the only way our kids have been able to talk to their friends. But I'm also aware it can go to extremes and thhat we as parents need to set examples too. Today thhe rain never stopped and my husband wasn't well and screen's were used a lot more than I'd willingly admit. I find it hard in winter especially at the moment wheb we can't go anywhere oor see anyone but the kids don't own their own devices. We have one PlayStation thhe entire family uses and one TV the entire family uses and we are always together seeing what each other is using. Thiis is such an important and complex topic. Great vid x
