Another thing about the over-the-top hair is that the hair being so big made her look skinnier in comparison. This is important for the leader of a weight loss cult.

After watching this I went and watched the HBO documentary. It was lame, drawn out, and full of fluff. This was sharp, to the point, and far superior, and it was free to watch! Well done.

Great Documentary..Back in 2015, I briefly tried to date a woman who was involved in this cult. She was constantly quoting scripture to me. BUT her interpretations of these various scriptures were always wrong and out of context. One evening, she got on a rampage about how great King David was as a man after God's heart. I listened very intently to all the examples she gave to me about David and his greatness. I could tell that Gwen Shamblin had been preaching about this recently in her services. So I told her that David was a great man of God. But he was also a Murderer, a liar, and a cheat , and he also committed adultery. He orchestrated the death of one of his soldiers so that he could sleep with the man's wife....Hahaha. She told me that I had a demon of knowledge on me...hahaha..we never spoke again.

Gwen said as she spoke about greed in the end, “ God will not be mocked!”So true!

I love how her hair represents her descent into insanity

As a Tennessean living just around an hour from Brentwood I WAS SHOCKED that I had never heard of Gwen before. I even talked to my mother about her (born in 1966 , also born in Tennessee) and she had never heard of Gwen either. Thank you for this great documentary. It has really been eye opening!

My gaaaad when did it all go so wrong for her hair! I mean she went from a sort of typical affluent 90s southern lady with a full bodied southern style bob, and turned in to something from the Munsters 😂😂😂

I can’t get over how normal and pretty she looked at the start and how insane she looked by the end. She obviously knew how to do good hair and makeup evident by the videos of when she was younger, how did she end up with that mess? Looks like she let a 5 year old child do it.

My mom took me along with her when she did the Weigh Down method when I was a kid (and yes, I was fat😂), but she didn’t go into the cult of it. She just saw it as a diet and started doing more daily Bible time….I had NO clue that she had an actual “church”! 😳
