How do these guys do so much engineering.. but then never thought that water would just get blown apart? Great video! Those self lacing shoes are genius!

every single one of these video makes me want to learn more about science. it really reminds me of how Vsauce can make science actually interesting and relevant while also being funny and inspiring.

I bet you cant summon a Yu-Gi-Oh card like they did on the tv show

As a Back to Future fan, I greatly appreciate someone stepping up to the promise scifi media made to fans so long ago! Thank you!

SPOILER ALERT: I'm surprised that those guys are smart enough to build such a complicated project like this, yet they did not predict that it would obviously sink and be instantly flooded by water. Anyway, congratulations on making it hover at least over land, that's an amazing feat.

I knew it wasn't going to work on water but a totally sick build, man! 🔥🔥
  • There are engineers and then there are dorkgeneers that forcus their big brains on bringing popculture to life without movie effects. You do a great service sir!

    Flying things before gta 6

This man not only builds a working hoverboard but he casually adds in self-lacing sneakers. Amazing work!

Finally someone who doesn’t just use magnets over metal 😂, nice job man!
  • @Oatmeal.
I can't believe the amount of engineering over 2 years to accomplish this board, and they didn't account for the fact they are just going to displace the water with the fans and gravity was going to do the rest? x) Props to them regardless, looks like they had a ton of fun and met some pretty cool people along the way! :)
  • If you add some sensors that measure the distance to the ground and use differential thrust to make it more stable, this could 100% work like in the movie and actually be pretty easy to control.

In the future, when we have actual hover boards, we’ll look back at videos like these the same way we look at those old videos of flying machines and just be amazed at how far we’ve come!

Im to late, but still wanted to say thank you for being these principles to millions of people. As engineer myself its always cool to see things like this and hope multiple people get inspired and push us to new innovation in the future. Together we can overcome current and future world issues.

I just bought your web shooter for Christmas and I love it!

The video and hoverboard were amazing! Honestly, you've done so much, it's hard to imagine something new. However, I've never seen any attempts to recreate the gauntlets of the Shocker. It would be fun to look at their works, if it's possible that is.

Omfg this video kept me on the edge of my toilet seat. I was 60% sure that it would go over water and 90% certain that it would also dip into the water and die. Awesome! I loved how you also just kinda made self lacing shoes along the way as a side project.
  • @user-dy9is3dp2g
I can’t beileive that you are so dedicated and kind.
  • There's a reason it's called the "ground" effect and not the "anything else" effect. To work, it requires that the surface is not deformed by the air; this holds for solid surfaces like concrete, but not for water.
