I turned a podcast about being a dad into an adventure

THE INCONVENIENT PODCAST: This bloke Hamish Blake, who I’ve never met, emails me and says ‘come on my Podcast to talk about being a dad’. Sure, I say, but what about I film a whacky adventure on the way to the studio with my daughter so we have something to talk about? Hamish thinks this is a great idea and suggests he does the same with his kids and we meet halfway between his place and mine. Google tells me the halfway point is 345 km from each of us, which happens to be a lake, and on that lake is an island. How bloody perfect is that! Off we set to record the world’s most inconvenient podcast.

These kids are all so lucky to have such wonderful men as their fathers
  • Another classic example of Beau turning what would otherwise be a pretty simple task, into a beautiful adventure. Amazing stuff as always!

Hamish when the birds got all riled up made me chuckle😂 "Beau's close.."
  • @verward
I love how Beau and Hamish are complementary opposites of eachother. Hamish to his wife: "I'll text you on the sat-phone." Beau, after being gone for a week, smelling of sewage: "The video should be online in a week, doll"

The stark contrast between Beau - a lifelong adventurer, and Hamish - a presumably lifelong urbanite (albeit one with very nice dry bags and duffels) - was so incredibly entertaining. I think in other Beau videos, you just get so engrossed that you forget the more common perspective that Hamish brings in this video.

Beau, I think this just might be your masterpiece. Treehouses and kayaking expeditions and train lines are great fun, but helping another dad take his family on an adventure is an absolute zinger.

I'm 100% at the Hamish level of Dadness. Just winging it and praying it works out.
  • This could be your best video yet. How you’ve brought other people and generations into your adventures and let them access the wonders of it all is incredible, kind and life giving! You’re a gem, Beau.
  • @vodago
I really do think Gerald was what held this whole adventure together.

This feels like a bluey episode. Absolutely wholesome and inspiring! ❤

I used to listen to How Other Dads Dad on my morning runs, and one morning my runner's high led me to write in and insist that they have Beau Miles on in season 2. So I feel partly responsible for this absolutely beautiful adventure your two families got to have in the lead up to meeting each other. Looking forward to hearing the pod too.

Hamish's face when he picked up the lovely paddle...the kids when they opened the box marked "veg". Classic, unscripted moments.

How does beau not have the most subscribers he doesn't just pump out mediocre content he creates captivating stories
  • @MrSnaveRevilo
I am not an aussie yet consume both Hamish and Andy and Beau Miles content voraciously, what a powerfully positive crossover, love it! Fast and loose brethren

Hamish's son is gonna grow up to be a good man, helping his dad without a second thought hahaha. Good lad and a good dad.
  • As a fellow YouTuber, not quite in the same niche as you, i was in awe of the new video on your channel. It really was next level editing, and to show the story of getting to the podcast from both sides, it really was next level. I had a smile on my face the entire 28 minutes. Watching from the other side of the world also made me miss home jsut that little bit more. Thanks Blake, Hamish and kids.
