I post new love life advice for you every weekend.

These days, when it comes to commitment, it can feel impossible to know what men are thinking.

Labels sometimes take longer to come than the feelings themselves, and our fear of getting hurt can make us all reluctant to be vulnerable and express what we feel.

As a result, so many women come to me asking . . .

“Are we living in a time when men just don’t want to commit anymore?”

“How do you know if a guy is ready?”

These two questions pop up A LOT, and that got me thinking about my own thoughts on the subject . . .

In this brand-new video, I give you 11 specific signs to look for to determine if a guy is serious about you

  • When he’s serious about you and wants a healthy relationship, he’ll be more open to conversations about making things right and moving past the misunderstanding.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing a man in love and knowing a woman being loved. I've been single for 7 years now and I hope the same bliss and love will find me too.

  • Number 1. When he starts pumping gas and making sure you always have fuel in your vehicle. And cleaning your windshield and checking the air pressure in your tires, you know you have a winner! 33 years married. 🥰

I am 60 and started dating again. The guy I am dating put in a ceiling fan in his room because I sleep hot. He also does adjust the temperature when I am at his place! He also replaced his mattress because his was over 10 years old and hurting my back. He actually bought the mattress I suggested! I was shocked and pleasantly surprised when he did that!

in my experience the only sure shot way to know if a guy is serious about u is if he proposes to u for marriage. Some guys will do all these relationship stuff and yet be detached from u emotionally. Ladies please dont b fooled. Taking you to his mom has nothing to do with him popping the diamond ring at u.
  • Few things harder than cultivating a meaningful relationship. Think the best sign is when it feels natural and organic from the start. If you have to work too hard, sacrifice too much, find yourself ignoring obvious red flags, and sometimes contorting yourself in the hope the other person will change, then there’s a good chance you’re not with the right person. I think we all know the ecstasy of that first flirtatious glance and the feeling of closeness, safety and pure joy when you’re with someone you trust and love. Those feelings need to be there fairly early on in a relationship. Shouldn’t require that much chasing. When it’s right you just know it. I wish us all boundless love.
  • My boyfriend also proposed to me 2 weeks ago. Congratulations Matthew on your engagement 💍. Your advice has really helped me with my relationship.

I believe in letting love lead. Love will make two people drop the silly act and just wanna make it work for the sake of being together.
  • Funnily enough, I watch this because I want to see if I do a good job for my girlfriend, and it has been all true of what he stated. Makes me so happy, even when she is angry at me right now.
  • @Mandy.S.
First, congrats! Second, if someone wants you in their life, as I recently learned, they will clear the air with you and want to move past a big argument that happened even if it was 2 years ago. People who genuinely want you in their lives will show you and be gentle with you instead of wanting to control you and rip you around. (This was just a friendship situation, but still. It says a lot that I mean something to that person, too.)

Had a guy do most of these. Even after telling me on the first date that he wanted somthing serious. After every weekend and a few complete weeks spent together for 5.5 months, he told me that he was just seeing what kind of relationship he could have and that he had no feelings for me. Essentially, I was his lab rat. But our friends met each other, we did lots of social events together, we hosted parties together, etc. Like I said most of what is mentioned in this video, including changing the temperature of his house for me. When I asked why he would do all that for someone he had no feelings for, he said he was trying to be a good partner. You better believe I walked. Got right back out there too. After previously being in a narcissistic relationship for almost 15 years, I've made a promise to myself to never stay if it's not healthy. And being with someone who has no feelings for you is not healthy. BTW, as I walked out the door, he voluntarily admitted that he had married a previous wife just to see if he could get her. 🙃🙄🥴🤯

I have a lot of sympathy for people who are not sure whether they're ready for a relationship--I myself was quite hesitant at the beginning of my relationship with my boyfriend. That being said, if you're looking for 'signs' someone is definitely ready, they should be pretty obvious. My boyfriend told me on the second date that he really liked me, he made a mid-week date happen after our first because he was going to be out of town the next weekend, we met each other's friends early on, like a month in he told me he saw a future with us, and then two months in he asked me to be his girlfriend (as opposed to leaving the status unclear). I met his family three months in and he was excited when the opportunity came to meet mine.

The temperature of the house thing had me rolling! True! I would add that he knows what kind of bed pillows you like best and always makes sure you are comfortable and content to your list. Best lines in the whole video: commitment isn’t him giving something up, but that which he wants to go to because it brings him peace and contentment. That is the true game changer for any relationship! Congrats on your engagement Matthew!
  • I was chasing guys to escape my own issues. I need to stop giving them my time because toxic attracts toxic. Time to really get my life together building my self-confidence. Gotta stay busy!
  • @johnster02
