“Ohhh so I have to get stuff, to get other stuff, to make stuff, to make other stuff??” THATS IT, THATS THE GAME! lol hope you enjoy Mapo, the gameplay exploration and story is so incredible.
  • Thank you for actually following the first advice the game gives you and actually reading the survival advice in the Databank! 90% of people seem not to read it, and then many people flail around for hours and say "What the heck am I supposed to be doing?" I think you've made solid progress precisely because you took time to read things, even if it isn't always the most exciting youtube content to watch someone read. But we can always just fast forward, so no harm, no foul. I think that's one huge advantage of playing this game on youtube instead of trying to constantly entertain twitch viewers.
  • Ah yes, the true first playthrough Subnautica experience, fill your inventory immediately with Acid Mushrooms, oh how nostalgic.. Excited to see this on the channel, as I'm already anticipating some fun reactions ahead.
  • "I have no idea what I'm getting myself into, so it's gonna be fun." Fun for you, fun for us, fun for the whole family!
  • I USED TO PRAY FOR TIMES LIKE THIS I can't believe it's finally happening. This is one of the best games I've ever played, I hope you fall in love with this world the same way I did! I really hope nobody spoils this game for you, because anything and everything is a spoiler with this game.

Ive never seen someone spend so much time in the pod that its night by the time they leave it for the first time.

15:45 It was a nice day when you started. That's the glory of not having the game pause while you PDA

Your playthrough is going exactly as well as everyone's first one. Picking up far too many acid mushrooms, trying to find cave sulfur whilst dealing with crashfish, scanning and exploring and just falling in love with the place. You're doing perfectly well!

Dude Subnautica is one of my most recent favourite game! I have a pretty nasty fear of the ocean and only last year did i have the balls to play this game, but man it was an unforgettable experience!
  • I had a little giggle when you swim to the Aurora and saying " We fix the Ship sail off and credits will roll". :) I love this game, its so immersive and even after a couple of playtroughs i know what is going to happen but still get those goosebumps and hair raising moments.
  • You’re picking things up at a good pace so far, a lot of people tend to not take the time to read the PDA entries when they start off. As you pointed out, it includes information that is very useful, especially to new players, regarding how different things may be exploited. I look forward to the next episode as always, Mapo!
  • I’ve always liked the analogy of this game’s scanner logs to Soulsborne games’ item lore. The worldbuilding is just so immersive. And occasionally quite frustratingly easy to miss.

Wow, both Mapocolops and About Oliver starting Subnautica playthroughs today. What a treat!
  • I absolutely love people discovering this game. The second one sadly does not hold the same wonder and storytelling this one does but is still fun nonetheless. Subnautica was the FIRST video game I ever backed an early access pledge to while they were in closed Alpha, and it was amazing to watch this project evolve from a concept that could run on an apple tablet to the full release.
  • Great to see someone who is usually so invested in the world buildings aspect play that game(there is stuff to read)).Never change man! I’m not finished with the episode but in case you didn’t notice, if there is something completely new to the data (it’s important, not if you encountered it-if you didn’t scan it)there is a symbol in the right lower corner

The long-awaited Subnautica at last! You did quite well in your first few hours. Got a lot of the basic gear made and now you're ready for some exploration for sure. I'm sure you're going to love the game's story as it begins to open up. One simple non-spoilery tip that I see lots of first time players miss (maybe you noticed?): if something is scannable, you get a pop-up of a scanner icon at the bottom right of the screen, even if your scanner tool isn't currently out. Similarly, when a radio message comes in, you see an icon at the top right, though that one is much bigger. Can't wait for more!
  • Aaaawsome! This is genuinely one of the absolute best games I've personally ever played

Subnautica is really cool, I bought it expecting a relaxing ocean exploration game, and 30 hours later I had developed a crippling fear of ever going near the sea.
  • Subnautica and the sequel Below Zero are some of my favorite games of all time. My one tip: Scan everything! One other fun note is that there are many features that were backported from Below Zero, including the recipe pinning on the side of the screen
