Two-thirds of women 40-59 years old are overweight and more than 1/2 are obese. Intermittent fasting can help women lose weight effectively. And can have profound impact on bio-physical profiles, but also improved self esteem and interpersonal relationships. It is easy to implement, it is inexpensive and flexible.

My intermittent fasting consists of eating between 12pm and 4pm and fasting the rest of time. I have been doing this for over eight months and I feel as good as I can be at my age (I will be 77 in a few days!) I am extremely poor, so I can't afford the best quality salmon, and most of my vegetables, avocados, and nuts are not organic, but I eat as healthy as my budget allows. Sometimes what you don't eat is just as important as what you eat. Avoid processed and sugary foods, avoid restaurants (I can't afford them anyway!), make everything from scratch, chew your food well, etc. Hope it helps!

WHAT IF I TOLD YOU that breakfast is the first meal of the day regardless of what time you eat it?
  • I have been intermittent fasting (16:8) for the past 3 years. At my last visit to my doctor's visit she told me she had never seen cholesterol levels as low as mine in any patient my age (66yrs). IF is not just about losing weight. It is a healthy lifestyle.

I started 16:8 intermittent fasting two weeks ago and have never felt better. I have about 30 pounds to lose and so far lost 8 pounds. The best part for me has been the renewed energy and less brain fog. I have an autoimmune disease and there were days that I could barely get out of bed. I feel so much more productive now. I can actually play with my kids and be attentive to my husband. I’m making dinner again and walking everyday. The impact this has had on my life and relationships is just incredible. I’m hooked. I’ll be doing this for life.

Been fasting for 2 months now, I’m just a regular guy with regular work hours, local truck driver, just wanted to post for encouragement. I’ve lost 30 pounds in 2 months with no other changes other than fasting. No exercise no supplement. Anyone can do it 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼and I cheat, I have coffee with cream every morning 😑

The human body actually needs way less food than we think it does...

My husband, 37 and I, 33, have been doing intermittent fasting for 4 years. We started because of Dr. Berg. But this ted talk is very appreciated. Our health has improved tremendously with IF. We do 23:1 on weekdays Monday-Friday. And 20:4 on weekends. We have 2 kids together who eat very healthy & are not overweight. Unfortunately everyone in our families are either overweight, obese, and even morbidly obese on both sides. Both side's our families have numerous health issues & unfortunately passsing away early. My husband & I decided that will not be US. And we have dedicated for the past 4 years to IF and animal based diet all being organic and grass fed of course. We are the only ones in our families that are not overweight & are very healthy. Zero health issues. We plan to do this the rest of our lives.

I started fasting on 3 Jan this year with walking 30 minutes and minimal exercise, I lost 1.5 kg in a week.. it's motivating me to continue with this. I hope I can reach my target with help of IF 😍
  • She is ABSOLUTELY right! I lost 60lbs skipping "the most important meal of the day." I tried the 16:8. The first 30lbs was lost with no exercise or diet change, the last 30lbs were lost with diet change and exercise. It was hands down one of the best changes I have ever made in my life.

Rare, in today's age, that someone 1: actually shares the details without just hinting they are in a book you have to buy, and 2: isn't selling powders, pills, or shakes.

This TED talk got me going on intermittent fasting 3 years ago and I have been able to maintain my weight ever since which is a miracle considering my history for the fifty years of my life since about age 12. It was always the yo-yo experience with my weight. I was actually on Weight Watchers on my Bar Mitzvah day! By doing the 16/8, I have been able to stay within 1 pound of my goal weight every day with no exceptions for 3 years, since age 62. I really cannot believe it.

I am 64 years old, male. I have been fasting 20 hours per day for a little over 2 years, with several 44 hour fasts per month. I have lost 65 pounds, stopped blood pressure meds, stopped talking about cholesterol meds due to improved test results. My weight is stable. My feet don’t hurt anymore. I am able to run for exercise again. I have much less inflammation and pain. I am forever in debt to my doctor who has guided me onto this path. It is definitely a lifestyle change for me. Thank you for sharing this.

Fasting is an incredibly powerful health hack that can literally save your life!
  • @RSS5311
I’m 73 years old. Down 50 pounds in 7 months. Doing 16/8. No problem.
  • Been living like this for a year it’s been unbelievable I couldn’t ever live eating another way. Everything she is saying is 💯 % true.

I am a 72 year old male who began intermittent fasting to lose weight. Over two years after reaching my weight goal (and maintaining it), I continue to IF because it just feels healthier to me. I like the fact my organs get nice long daily break. I now believe that if you eat proper food and exercise about a half an hour daily, you will not be overweight and you will not get hungry. Your body adapts well and rewards you when you are doing all the right things.
  • @billballeza377
She failed to mention the best part. You are fasting while you sleep, so it is really only eight waking hours you have to be concerned about.
  • @bluesoamazin7718
Intermittent fasting is awesome! I've been doing it for over a year and lost over 100 lbs
  • @ohmailife8162
I adopted intermittent fasting into my life in 2022 with the 16:8 method and have lost 60 pounds for the year. I can truly say that this was the most effective method for me. In over 10+ years I have tried so many methods and spent thousands of dollars on trying to lose weight. With IF, I am not as hungry and my energy level was so high. IF has truly changed my life.
  • @8656737s
I've been doing it five days now and feel a lot better already. I hope to continue for the rest of my life. I''m sick of losing 50 lb gaining it all back. Best of luck to you all ❤
