  • It is so commendable that she finished the race, great job. I love the fact that people stayed to continue cheering for her. This is what the Olympics are about?
  • She STILL finished a marathon in under four hours. To me, that’s still impressive.
  • @argentinemaniac
A testament to the spirit of sports and sportsmanship! Bravo to this athlete! and Bravo to all the supporters!!

I love the support she received. That's a long road by oneself. I'm glad that she finished the race and met her goal. The Olympic spirit lives on.

This is the true meaning of marathon, this is the spirit of sportsmanship! ❤️

Those in the stands saw Hassan cross the finish line at 2:22:55. 33 minutes later they had watched 78 other racers cross the finish line as Shrestha of Nepal crossed the line at 2:55:06 in 79th place. And then they stayed in those stands for another 57 minutes waiting for and cheering on Lhamo?! Amazing show of support for the Bhutanese runner. This was a wonderful Olympic moment.

Great that the Bhutan Flag was with her. Having been to Bhutan many times this is what I would expect. Bhutanese are not quitters.
  • Watching people run along side her and so many stayed to watch her finish, tells you what the olympics are and should always be about. ❤
  • I very much appreciate you reporting this. I am proud of her and proud for her country. It is a tough race to begin with. May she continue to live the life of grit, determination, and inspiration.

As a former amateur, overweight, slow-paced half marathon runner, I was always so thrilled with the welcoming, supportive nature of running culture as a whole. For the vast majority of people, they didn't care about your age, experience, speed, etc but so encouraging if you were just out there doing it.
  • It’s all about finishing what we started that really counts. Cheers to her. Soo motivating
  • @Jackmitchhell
People forget she’s a badass ultramarathoner! The marathon is only her warmup.
  • @rdawgo14
3 hours 52 minutes is a very, very solid time by human standards-- reveals how insanely good top Olympians are that it was 90 minutes (!!) off the winning pace.
  • @geekdiggy
btw, there were 11 runners who opted not to finish. she wasn't one of them.
  • This almost made me tear up. This is like the best of humanity. It’s so cool to see the Olympic spirit live on well over a hundred years later

Best video of these Olympics. And shoutout to the fans for sticking around, what a moment to see that live!

It’s not how you start it’s how you finished. Well done young lady.
