  • I'm over here calculating the cost of buying ice every day for 3 months and this man shows me a gallon water bottle he keeps frozen. This man has deep wrinkle brains. Deep as the grand canyon. I officially love this build.

This is what I miss about youtube videos..straight to the point. No quirky try-hard intros, narcissistic banter, plugging to buy merch or demanding me to like/sub before even starting the damn video (ooh this one grinds my gears!). This video is perfect! I know this video is hella old but thank you mr. man for this diy video 👌

hahahah.. from the thumbnail, I thought you'd built something that shoots water out all over the carpet...

5 years ago when I was broke af working the graveyard shift this little thing saved my life, especially in the summer time. Thank you.

You guys are arguing about this project because you put in the USA perspective. I leave in Haiti where electricity is, for some area, a luxury, and on a summer the temperature of the house might rise to the 90s. I have an Inverter ( it is a system that will convert a 12-24 DC volt batterie to a 120 AC volt with a peak to up to 6000 Watts, based of the size of the inverter). The only problem is we can't run a Air Cond the whole night because the system will not stand. A use of a system like that is very helpful since the fan uses only 15 watts, that means the inverter can power it up to a week non stop. Respect for the idea.

More saving, more doing. That's the power of the Home Depot.

Who at first sight thought that was water shooting out the holes on the thumbnail ☝️
  • This little gem has worked great for the past three summers..... We don't even talk about repairing the A/C on our minivan anymore.

Gotta add this to my "ZOMBIE SURVIVAL KIT"!! "Keep cool while fighting the undead"

This is really a great idea. Believe it or not there are a lot of people that cannot afford a air conditioner & many people do not have an air conditioner. TY for sharing this.
  • This works amazingly well. I wasn't expecting such a major impact. Had to shut it off because made my entire desk and work area too cold for comfort. That's a good thing! We've been dealing with record heat in our otherwise moderate climate. Air conditioning is rare here. This was a life saver. But too cold for sitting too close for too long. Is more powerful than imagined. Initially I created a makeshift gasket/liner by stuffing Styrofoam strips around just the top gap portion between two buckets, outer bucket and slightly smaller inner bucket, to keep air from leaking from between the top of the two buckets. Worked. No leaks. Is ugly but effective. Thanks :)

Always make sure you do all the drilling on carpet, so your wife can have something to clean up later.
  • My husband just made one out of a large storage tote and a 24" box fan. Sucker takes about 4 gallons of frozen milk jugs, but it cools the entire living room and kitchen combined!! Thanks for the great idea!  P.S. Because the tote is not insulated like the cooler is, we lined it with cardboard. That takes care of the insulation problem and still have plenty of room for the ice jugs.

Love it, no chatter, straight to the point. Use old water bottles and fill them with water and rock salt (stays colder longer) and keep a steady supply handy to replace them
  • @Sarge92
glad you have more sense than the other people who make these and put dry ice in them because people cant seem to understand why filling a room with co2 is a bad idea
  • @joedejesus6363
Very ingenious set up, simple and energy efficient. This will do wonders while camping in those hot summer nights.
  • @Life-Row-Toll
I had a similar idea when I was in fifth grade. Our home didn't have air condition at the time... Well your design is more complex and looks great. I'm going to try it out someday. Thank you sir.

I wish the algorithm showed me this two weeks ago when it was 110.

I just use a styrofoam cooler. A nice thick one I got from Omaha Steaks when I purchased some goods for the 4th. Nice and thick, easier to fabricate, and works great!

Neat Build .... Ingenious really for a Low Budget ..... I'm a Htg and A/C contractor and I approve this
