I'm 22 years old and this car is easily one of the most beautiful of my generation. The back-end is the best part!
  • Personally, I love the styling of the XJ even from the back. Nothing else in this class, has such beautiful lines. Hated the blacked out C-pillar when it was launched, and still think the air vents look like gargoyles in the dashboard, but apart from those minute details, I love the XJ.

I had the good fortune to own a Supersport for a while, and it was simply epic. Better-equipped than the R, slightly more pliant ride, slightly more subtle appearance. The looks grew on me more and more over time. Every journey was an occasion and the engine was perfectly happy either cruising gently or ripping your face off. We took it on a tour to Scotland and it was fabulous both at eating distances and blasting down twisty roads with the astonishing engine at full roar. I can confirm getting solidly into the 30s mpg on a long run, or about 5mpg in traffic. Don't sit in traffic. I think this car is a classic and I miss mine every day.
  • I went to a JLR dealer in Preston a few years a go with my brother who owned a XF, he went to get it serviced. I love Range Rovers so happily sat in them on the showroom floor and unfortunately was not impressed at all. So, I walked through the glass doors to the Jaguar showroom and looked at this beautiful car called the XJ! I got in and settled into the most comfortable, well fitting machine and fell in love. I did not want to get out! My brother came looking for me and I was in dream mode in 'my' XJ. It was beautiful! It is beautiful and I went off Range Rovers there and then.
  • Spectacular review there. A few years ago I almost bought a Merc E-Class because - on paper - it seemed like the best on the Market. However, I felt that I'd always be looking over at a Jag with envy every time one pulled up next to me. Several years on and I'm on my third Jag. No regrets

There really isn't enough X351 XJR content online. It seems to have fallen somewhat into obscurity. Launched just a little too early to capitalise on the YouTube boom I assume. Absolutely love this car.

This has a similar charm to the Maserati quattroporte. It's appeal is in its character as much as its competence. You get the sense there may be a body or two in the boot.

That rear and the size makes it, for me, the only modern Jag that is imposing. Was very sorry to see the old XJ design gone for good but this has grown on me. The smaller saloons' rears are sort of generic looking.

I’ve got a plain 3.0 XJL but it’s got the Satin Zebrano wood veneer. The interior flavour is second to none. The luxury experience value is hard to beat, as long as you remember that maintenance costs will always reflect a flagship luxury car no matter your purchase price.

I prefer the back from the front. But overall gorgeous. I recall Clarksons race against the sunrise on top gear as my personal favourite memory closely followed by the "yes, but is it a proper jaaaag" that made jaaaags even cooler. Shame jaaag never seemed to realise that could be used as a selling point and have lost their way for me now.

Thank you for reviewing these! Please continue to review these special Jags! The LEGEND should never die! If we keep talking & driving them!
  • @drumnbass8
If I remember correctly on the air suspension there were two options - comfort and sports. I believe you could option either across the range so the car you briefly owned could have had the sports setup, and this one tested could have been optioned with comfort air suspension.

A shame they discontinued it, according to the then CEO Ballore, the next gen was cancelled because it was an ICE/EV platform as opposed to EV bespoke. Now that he stepped down and Jaguar are trying to go even more upmarket, there seems to be potential of something of its category
  • @christaylor4946
Without watching it, this is exactly the type of car I was going to suggest instead of a cayenne turbo for you James, a powerful jag saloon 👌
  • @HussainMubeen
Got the XJ R-Sport - one of the sexiest cars Jaguar and Ian Callum ever made, and a sublime car to own. Anyone who says otherwise because of the back or its too different from the previous models, thats exactly what it needed! Or else itll remain a stuffy old niche catering for the oldies like Morgan.
  • @2moke2creen
The XJ is the only modern Jaguar I'd truly consider owning since my introduction of it on Top Gear racing across Britain. It was a sight to behold 😻 I'd pull a Cannonball with it here in the states if it would survive 😼
  • @rthomasbox
Have to disagree it’s 13years old and still looks good. Look at a 13year old 7 or a8 there heavily dated and look like stretched versions of the smaller car in the range. XJ is a classic
  • Love this car so much! For me, the X351 XJR is the only big saloon I'd consider, and for me a lot of it is the looks (which I'd say is one of the best designs ever made) and the engine, but also the fact that they put the effort in to make it light (for the size). If I ever need more than 2 doors, this is straight where I'm going!
