Bruh I was having a heartwarming moment until I read the comments lmao
  • My youngest daughter had a deaf girl in her grade 4 class, the entire class was taught basic sign language. The kids were keen to learn so they could chat silently in class. One of her friends has gone on to be a speech therapist for the deaf community and married a deaf guy, her matron of honour was the deaf girl from primary school.
  • I was a bartender and a Train Conductor and I was able to sign to my deaf customers because my aunt is deaf and she taught me as a kid how to communicate with her. It's pretty cool when a hearing impaired customer discovers that you can communicate with them. The sense of relief (especially the traveling public) because they're trying to get somewhere and the fear of ending up in the wrong place must be frightening. It also helps me help them. I recommend everyone especially POLICE take sign courses. Did you know that the deaf are terrified of police? Because they cannot hear an officers commands they are at higher risk of being shot or arrested. So, to be a police officer, I feel that being able to communicate with the deaf is important and one class could make all the difference.
  • Isn't this how it should be??? Are we really living on an age where kindness is so rare that people makes a fuss about it and even make it to news??

This was 7 years ago. I hope he is living a fullfilled life soing what he wants. What a good person

This is truly a heart warming story. Learning a whole new language just for the small majority that he could help whilst doing so. Every little helps. Well done Caleb!

This young man sounds like the product of good parenting. Well done Caleb.
  • During Covid, I had my kids learn ASL just for the heck of it and something to learn. We only know one deaf person in our church; her mother signs the whole Mass for her. It's been inspiring to watch. I feel like ASL is something that should be pushed more to learn, for the deaf community.
  • This was what the world needs rn, his parents don't need no material gifts, their son was the gift.
  • @sdrfz
He doesn't sound like a typical 18 YO, he sounds much more mature.
  • I learned ASL after I had an interaction with a customer who kept writing everything on our sticky notes and so the next time he came in I was able to communicate with him just a little through sign and I could tell he was so much happier and at ease knowing he didn’t need to write everything down that he needed and over time I kept learning more signs and was able to communicate with all of my deaf customers better. Good on that boy for being super polite and diligent with that man.

This is not only just humble but simply beautiful. Such a young and thoughtful man. His parents have raised him right. Thankyou Caleb for making others feel integrated x

  • To management. Please give him a very well deserved raise of at least $3.00 more and a great recognition plate. He is a hero of kindness

I was at this old gas station around midnight and I saw this man with gold teeth in his Escalade trying to sign with this teenager in another car. He didn't seem deaf, so he likely saw this story and was just really inspired by it! It's so amazing what this young Taco Bell worker has done!
