I relate so hard to this. I was the kid too that exceled in math but sucked at reading. Reading has always been a struggle for me. I'm convinced I have some undiagnosed issue too. My spouse has to read any subtitles in movies to me because I can't keep up with them and I have to keep pausing it for every line. Discovering audiobooks was a game changer. But people always acted like it was cheating.

My Japanese professor was grading my quiz one day and said stuff like “okay, this is spelled with an extra い, you don’t have to have an う here,” etc. I told her that my bad spelling is a skill that crosses all language barriers. She about lost it laughing 😂
