The city is named after Don Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo, the famed Californio general and statesman. He was a leading proponent of California's statehood and one of the first members of the California State Senate. The neighboring city of Benicia is named for his wife, Francisca Benicia Carrillo de Vallejo. Vallejo has twice served as the capital of the state of California: once in 1852 and again in 1853.
Vallejo sits on the northeastern shore of San Pablo Bay, 30 mi (48 km) north of San Francisco, the northwestern shore of the Carquinez Strait and the southern end of the Napa River, 15 mi (24 km) south of Napa. Vallejo is home to the California Maritime Academy, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom theme park, the former Mare Island Naval Shipyard, and the regional office for Region 5 of the United States Forest Service.

I miss growing up in Vallejo in the 90s. So much nostalgia

Nice city with a rich history. I like how the old downtown area is laid out. Plenty to do, good parks, Mare Island is a real treasure too. Th climate is terriffic.

Wow. The old Empress Theater is still there. Good video. Thank you.

I'm back in Ohio but I stayed down there in Vallejo few years and then I walked to make my way to Sacramento I would like to see some familiar faces down at the waterfront at the cafe and at the city hall.

Born and raised I lived on the east side. Went to Pennycook, Springstowne Junior high and I’m class of 98 from Hogan Senior High. Left Vallejo in 2005 moved to Las Vegas NV with my parents

Nice video. A lot of nice areas though too were overlooked including Hiddenbrooke, Glen Cove, Waterfront, Mare Island, Architectural & Heritage District, & a few o9f the city's parks. I read a few of the negative comments here regarding what was overlooked like the homeless. No city is perfect not has that problem. I'm not going to be a Debbie Downer. Vallejo's not perfect then too not the worse place to be either. Recently I moved more so for economic reasons. Then too difficult to do a decent video of a City you aren't familiar with too

I used to live in Vallejo when I was 6 years old

This video would be improved 100x if there was a minimap
-
Whoever did this never drove to the downtown on Georgia Street -- the main part of the commercial district in Vallejo where some of the historic buildings still remain. It appeared to be done by someone who knows nothing about Vallejo.

That’s were I was born

Lovely, lovely city by the Bay. Unfortunately, this video keeps driving away from the waterfront, where the view is awesome. I can see Mare Island and Mount Tamalpais and forever from the top of St. Vincent Hill, but this video does not show that. Lovely, lovely city by the Bay. But the property tax will kill you.
