Who are Kara and Nate?!
Watch our documentary here:    • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment.

We discovered the world of “travel hacking” while planning our honeymoon & became addicted ;)

So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world.

Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went back home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with living on the road and found a new passion for capturing our travels through video. So we did everything we could to keep going.

4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time.

After ~2 years of van life, we are back to full time international traveling! And now we are finding the best adventures the world has to offer :)

We are incredibly grateful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎 Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey!

Have you guys noticed how many times Nate had mentioned Kara's name while being alone? How adorable is that? ❤😊
  • @fiftyfive70
I hope Kara is feeling much better. I could tell Nate was missing his best friend, but he did a great job documenting his day.
  • I am a South African expat teacher at the high school you showed in the water village. Can't wait to show the students that their school is on YouTube! Thanks for coming to Brunei and showing it off to the world.

Live in Brunei 🇧🇳 for 4 years as a Singapore 🇸🇬 Military permanent staff personnel from 1994 to 1998. Christmas is not illegal, it is a public holiday but the celebration is not celebrated publically like in Singapore 🇸🇬. It is a great country. Try Jerudong Park and go to Kuala Belait, you guys will love it. I was mostly station at Temburong not Bandar Seri Begawan.
  • @Ren-ns3lo
Love you guys back out mixing with locals and experiencing culture!!!! That’s where you guys really shine. ❤
  • @kydzterme
Chrismas is not illegal. Its a public holiday in Brunei. Its just not celebrated in public spaces.
  • @bryanlu93
I know the continuity is probably off, but I really hope Kara is feeling better! It SUCKS being in a foreign country, sick as can be, literally bedridden. She's a champ, but so is Nate! Pushing through to give us this amazing footage and story: it's impressive and beautiful at the same time. Thanks guys.
  • Why Most people from other country always think Brunei is a bad country? 🤔 We are living in peaceful here without paying a tax and everything😄
  • @lb3659
Fantastic introduction about people being different than their governments. ❤
  • @charlimarieTV
I lived in Brunei for six years as a kid! I haven’t been back since we left in 2000, so it was amazing to see a glimpse of the way things have changed or stayed the same in this vlog. Thanks for sharing!
  • @smaple1618
I love what you said Nate. The call to prayer made you feel so special not because it was a call to prayer but because it highlighted the differences and the fact that you get to experience a different way of life. Most people who are Christian might consider that a negative thing, you guys embrace diversity and other cultures and represent Christianity in a way that makes me proud to be a Christian! I strive to be as open, loving, and accepting as you guys are. You can’t put a price tag on niceness.
  • @AbsoluteEgg
Im so glad you went to my country! And I love how you didnt even criticize it like most youtubers. You are welcome to Brunei anytime! 😊
  • @HurricaneColby1
I hope your feeling better Kara. It's not quite the same without you! Nate, you did a great job navigating the camera plus giving us the experiences you had. I continue to love each and every one of your videos. Stay safe!
  • About 30 years ago I was working in dtwn Seattle and the Sultan of Brunei was in town for a meeting with world leaders. At the time I was listening to an old radio and the upper part of the dial would occassionally pick up cell phone calls. To my shock one of the calls that came through my phone was the Sultan of Brunei making dinner arranagements. I will never forget that accidental incercept and of course at the time had never heard of Brunei so I had to look up the sultan and find out who he was.

I work with Ayusa International high school exchange, and have spent most of my adult life promoting cultural exchange. Thank you for emphasizing that there are good people everywhere, as well as the fact that in a country the people and it’s government are not the same, especially when they do not have a say in it. Thanks, too, for being good ambassadors. I love watching your videos. When you share these cultural tidbits and show that people are people, you are making the world a better place. And you thought you were just making travel videos!
  • @mjj8098
Brunei is a very humble country Dramatic sunset everyday Perfect and peaceful country
  • @christip20
I absolutely loved how much you missed Kara, it was so sweet and I’m positive every woman who saw this wants someone to feel like that about her….. You’re both so very lucky & the best part is that you know it & appreciate it instead of taking it for granted…..💕
  • @davidnelson4960
You make a great team. Nate playing it dry and informative combined with Kara's enthusiasm is endearing.
  • @Nontacticalboy
I stayed in that hotel once, i was a sound man for an artist who was invited to come play at the sultan's soccer teams birthday which happens to be his sons birthday if im not mistaken. Came out to the lobby and saw lines of rolls roys parked outside. Also our bus kept its engine running though out the night during the show, its to keep the AC cold the driver said. It was a few hours.
  • This vlog is what separates the traveler from the tourist. Kara & Nate continue to push boundaries and get out of the comfort zone that tourists usually have. They have set themselves apart from other YouTube travelers.
