Kenrap is eight years old. He is a Buddhist monk and lives in the Phuktal monastery on the peaks of the Himalayan mountains of Zanskar.
Kenrap chose his life away from his family: when he was five, he remembered he was the reincarnation of a 68 year-old monk, and then decided to return to the monastery where he belonged.
Filmed from the point of view of a subjective camera by a young ethnologist, this award-winning film follows this attaching little monk with whom we share moments of intimacy, and gives us a rare glance at Buddhist monastic life.

  • The language is very similar to our language.we are Himalayan of Nepal 🇳🇵.we haven't luxury facility but we are peace and happy because it's the blessing of Buddha's teaching.
  • ''If you think you'll fall, you will fall. If you think you won't fall, then you won't fall. Everyone has to make their heart strong'' Wow! What an advice from the young monk.

I have watched this masterpiece 07 times. This documentary film is a stress buster and therapeutic.May all beings be free of suffering. As HHThe Dalai Lama said “my religion is simple, my religion is kindness"

When asked "You don't want to go anywhere else?". The little kid says, "We can see everything well from here!" Its astonishing how they don't desire anything at all even at that tender age.

I’m looking in the teary eyes of the little boy monk with the bump on his cheek and heart breaks for his pain. Such tough life these monks live yet they don’t complain one bit. I wish them all good health and happiness. Always.
  • Salute to the photographer and the team who has offered me such a fascinating documentary, hats off to the little boy.

I don't know why, every time I watch a documentary about Zanskar people I always cry. Strong people. Beautiful soul, beautiful mind. May they always be healthy and happy. Greetings from Indonesia🇮🇩

This little monk has more wisdom that today's most educated and intellectuals. I heart fall for these beautiful souls. Imagine if the world is filled with such beautiful, wonderful souls.
  • As a mother, I just wanted to give the little boy with mumps such a big hug. It seems such a harsh life, and the boys are so stoic. It's all they have known, but a little more affection for these children wouldn't go amiss. I appreciate documentaries such as this, which show the less romanticised side of Buddhism.

Think u won't fall and you won't fall. Wow !! What an advice from a little child 👍🏻👍🏻
  • The dedication of these very young children as a monk to live at the monastery and their self discipline is so amazing
  • Incredible film. It touched my heart so deeply...the first time I cried watching a documentary film. Kenrap is definitely a reincarnated old monk, his character and wisdom at such a young age, beautiful soul...and a role model for me who is old enough to be his grandma.
  • Fascinating doc. I visited Tibet in 1998 and love the people. While China modernizes it to exploit the resources, I hope they can hold on to their traditions. I have seen firsthand how they are treated as inferior by the Chinese. Om mani padme hum
  • Beautiful film. Is the little monk singing? Beautiful voice, beautiful song. I love this type of films, so relaxing and peaceful to watch
  • This gives a lot of hope to the world. Tibet and India are both seeking God in a very peaceful manner and effective way too.

Humbling, the petty cares go out the window, the needs become obsolete, what is important is doing prayers & remembering there are Souls suffering in this world who need understanding. I kept thinking how western children are very spoiled & way more than they need yet nowhere near as happy as these young Monks, those smiles & giggles are Heart warming. Respect 🙏
  • Love you all little brothers in Samsara. You're so pure in your hearts and souls. You'll become stronger and be great spiritual leaders in the future.
