Hassan.......After 2 Bronze 🥉 medals in the longest track events, comes back to defeating two titans of distance running Obiri and Assefa on a very challenging course, and winning the Olympic Games Marathon in record ⏺ time........that blows my mind!!!
-
Crazy triple to medal in the 5K, 10K and win the marathon at the end.
-
Sifan Hassan is a legend.
-
To win a marathon just days after the 5km and 10km races is INSANE. Incredibly impressive.
-
Sifan Hassan does something not done since Zatopec medalled in the 5k. 10k and Marathon in 1952. AMAZING accomplishment.
-
Fun fact: Yuka Suzuki of Japan was the only woman who finished top 10 in this Marathon who was not born in Kenya,Uganda or Ethiopia.
-
To me, this is the athlete of the Games!
-
Wow, Assefa was ruthless trying to close the door. Good for Hassan that she didn't give in, got the elbows out and fought back. Bravo Hassan.
-
Absolutely mind-blowing to see Hassan straight-up sprinting at the end of the marathon. She's amazing.

Sifan Hassan is my hero. That is easily the most incredible distance running display I’ve ever seen. How could Sifan sprint like that, like a fresh legged teen-ager, after 26 grueling miles at Olympic record pace? What absolute tenacity in her duel with Assefa. And that “Sifan hip bump felt round the world” when Assefa tried to cut her off. That was ridiculously cool—her letting Assefa know she could not be denied. Coming down the carpet—poetry in motion—Sifan Hassan all gold!!!

Sifan Hassan is an amazing runner and very exciting to watch. 1 gold and 2 bronze metals. Congratulations to her and the Netherlands!! 🙏🏽💕
-
Sifan Hassan is a remarkable runner - I believe she is the first runner in 72 years to earn a medal in the 5k, 10k, and the marathon at the same Games...when Emil Zatopek won gold medals in all three races at the Helsinki Games in 1952!!
-
I have seen people talking about Sifan and criticizing her quite a bit. But you tell me who can do what she just did. She is an amazing runner and person. She really is the embodiment of a true athlete and a champion. Those bronze medals were run against ladies who don't race the marathon. Here you have this well rounded runner winning what she deserves. A Gold!!! Congrats Sifan!! You are an inspiration to all runners!! 😊
-
truly amazing runner, doesn't get the press she deserves. In Tokyo she won the 5000 and 10000 and got bronze in 1500. Multiple wins and medals in several world championships in 1500, 5000 and 10000 dating back to 2015 as well.
-
I am in awe of this woman. Congratulations, Sifan Hassan.
-
We are very lucky to witness her heart as she leaves it all on the track and field day after day, year after year. A true legend!
-
So basically she just used the 5000 and 10000(which she won bronze in both) as training sessions for the marathon
-
Considering Hassan already medalled in the 5k and 10k, this finish has to be the all time greatest in an Olympic marathon.
-
Nobody runs 62 km in just three days, but Hassan does! Big respect for sifuu and congratulations!

This Woman is Amazing, I watched this race live and you just knew by watching her she was waiting for her time. There was a steep hill that was also very challenging, but Hassan was very calm. That last burst was amazing, congratulations to all these women , this is one of the most grueling races I have ever witnessed. Triple medal for this woman, amazing.
