Being Confident in my CANCER Treatment Options!

Published 2024-07-24
Shyreece started to feel shortness of breath and heaviness in her breathing back in 2014. She was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, and 10 years later, she is looking back on her lung cancer journey.

In the last 10 years, Shyreece did biomarker testing and learned she has the ALK mutation. The ALK mutation is a genetic alternation of the lung cells' DNA that causes these cells to grow abnormally and ultimately behave as cancer cells. It occurs in 1 out of 25 non-small-cell lung cancer patients.

Shyreece now does advocacy work surrounding biomarker testing. In this cancer vlog, she talks about the importance of biomarker testing and the opportunity surrounding clinical trials.
