Most useful and pointless device at the same time

not gonna lie, davinci resolve on iPad is pretty solid.

Tap and hold is a simple solution to a right click using touch and it's actually used by most apps.

The iPad Pro isnāt a laptop replacement if your only computer is a laptop. It was for me because my main computer is a Mac Studio. And Iām not gonna do the same things I do on my Mac Studio on a MacBook Air which is the iPad Pro specs. I need a digital drawing device, and I donāt do enough heavy work to need a MacBook Pro. Itās an amazing drawing device, and I like the focused nature of the OS. I rarely use my keyboard with the iPad. One of the reasons the tablet form factor hasnāt switched as the dominant one in the windows world in the over 10 years Microsoft has been pushing it, itās because windows sucks as a touch only interface. The iPad and Android devices work because even with no accessories it works fine. I donāt see anyone having a good time just using the surface without a keyboard.

MacPad OS doesn't sound so bad š

The problem with the second mouse button is already solved - the squeeze function on the Apple Pencil Pro gives contextual menus in apps. Right-clicking on a mouse could provide the same functionality. Similarly, holding down a finger (or two) could also do it.

When you attach the Magic Keyboard the iPad engages in āPro Modeā which adjusts to a Mac-style environment. Boom š

"Growing discussion" š This discussion has been going on for years. It just keeps getting refreshed for every new iPad release and with the same exact conclusions.

So reason why āFilesā castrated and literally empty, we all can see that even in this video, is because ātouch systemā? Well, that is a biggest excuse I can imagine. I have on my iPad Air plenty of space for new tabs and options to implement in Files. Donāt try to sell intended lack of option as inability to add it. Tapānāhold for double click is rocket science? itās already working on ipad

They should just make the apple "pro" apps free just for the iPad pro, to justify that steep price. Logic and Final cut being subscription based hurts alot.

Mapping right-click contextual menus to a long press would go a long way to bridging the gap between point/click and touch. Only issue I could foresee is the limitation of screen size and not all options fitting onto the screen. iPadOS already has a scalable UI, and obviously the OS recognises when the Magic Keyboard is attached. So, while I am undecided how I personally feel about it, a solution could be to lock certain functionality to certain accessories, such as the UI scales down to be more point/click friendly depending on whether the Magic Keyboard is attached or not. Sure, itās somewhat similar to how Windows interfaces with the keyboard folio attaching to the Surface Pro. Realistically, users who want that functionality are typically going to purchase a Magic Keyboard anyway for that purpose, so the act of āsplittingā the user base through the purchase of an accessory could work and makes business sense to implement

I just appreciate ur great edited videos

The right click can be easy emulated by a long tap
-
Your one of the few youtubers who actually help viewers learn what you're talking about, thank you. Ipad is kinda a expensive youtube player.
-
Just put a toggle to switch between touch and mouse. Issue solve.

It's interesting to know Apple's stance is, though. The VP of iPad and Mac marketing publicly stated in the Wall Street Journal that the two devices are not competing with one another, and that they instead compliment each other. I would never replace my Mac for the iPad. It simply too hard to adapt the workflows. Instead, I use my iPad to make my life on the Mac easier (i.e., Continuity, having a secondary display on the go, etc.)

Ironically if windows for ARM lives up to the hype itās going to be iPads make or break moment.
-
Have you seen MatePad Pro 13.2 before? They have a word processor that is the same as desktop version. Desktop apps can be had by using a pen for click, finger for scroll/zoom. That is also possible

You are about to hit 200k soon!!

Very true! Mouse and finger touch mehavior are completely different.
