Are you wanting to learn more about needle depth on human skin?

In this video we will all dive into Needle Depth On Human Skin. We will dive into what to look and listen for and more in between. Not only will we be taking up close looks together, I also recorded HIGH QUALITY audio so you can get a very good idea of what is sounds like when the needle hits the dermis.

I wont sit here and tell you you go this many mm deep right here, or you go this mm deep right here. I am going to give you some tools you can practice so you become fully comfortable with finding the dermis.

There are some variables I am considering upon inputting ink into human skin. I am listening for that sizzle which indicates the skin has been broken by the needle tip, I am feeling for the resistance the skin provides upon pulling lines, and I am watching the needle tip with my eyes.

These variables are shown time and time again in this video. You can see the needle tip, you can hear the sizzle, and you can watch my movements.

Another VERY IMPORTANT variable to consider is the pull on the skin. We have to get that nice pull and stretch the skin as well to be able to get that needle into the dermis. 1 last important thing to remember upon tattooing in general is to always be confident in your abilities and work!

I used the CNC WE Plus for this tattoo along with a Quelle 10-11RL. The WE Plus worked wonderfully and pulled lines with ease! I will leave the link below so you can check out the WE Plus on your end.

Tip for anyone new to tattooing: always dap or dap and press so you don’t mess up or wipe away the stencil, jst like how he does it 👍🏻 love these vids, I like to see other artists who are friendly and open to teaching!

I literally thought to my self right before I opened YouTube was “I’ve got the art down I just need to make sure my technique is correct and I’m hitting the right depth” and then this was the first video I saw recommended haha thank you!!
  • Did two years of an apprenticeship but never finished. These videos helped so much. Pushed three pieces on me so far to practice depth. Crazy how the skin changes from area to area.
  • 37yrs old and I’ve been drawing my whole life, my wife just bought me a tattoo machine for Xmas, and I’ve been watching your videos for straight two days even some almost three times back to back, I haven’t even open the box yet to go thru everything, I’ll give myself 6months before doing myself or anyone else for sure will practice my ass on the fake skin
  • Thank you so much for your videos! I started to learn and practice recently, and it felt so natural from the start, but I started doubting myself, and your videos helped me gain my confidence back!
  • @Tat2byD
I tattooed myself and It was so hard to stay focused with feeling the pain and remembering to breathe and to take my time. Thank you for this video!! Huge help
  • @Zomeone13
I’m a visual learner, I’ve seen a lot of videos to help me get started. This video alone has helped me the most!
  • You’re the best tattoo teacher on YouTube hands down. I’ve watched them ALL and keep coming back to yours.

Hey man! I stumbled across your videos and you’ve earned yourself another subscriber. You explain things so well and it’s so easy to understand what you are trying to say. Thank you for everything! I’m new into the tattoo game and you help me better myself so I can do my best work out here. Thanks again
  • @TerraRiley
That sound was more helpful than anything anyone has been able to tell me. Thank you!
  • @air5920
Your videos are great. I’m currently teaching myself how to tattoo since I can’t afford and apprenticeship, and this has been the most helpful thing I’ve seen. Thank you for your service 🙏🏾
  • @Picassoinkz
This video just helped me so much now I can finally know when I’m at the right depth
  • Thanks man. I'm new to tattooing (putting ink in skin for about 3 weeks now) I have a deployment injury resulting in hearing loss, so I have to go strictly by eyesight, experience, and FEEL! I am constantly questioning myself on depth even though I have never blown anybody out, or had disappearing lines (I have an amazing artist as a teacher) brad brooks with steel rail tattoo LLC here in Irvine KY. This video along with him as a teacher, all of your videos in fact are a huge help to me. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!
  • @Alysean
Can’t appreciate this content enough. It’s not easy explaining something in realtime whilst in pain and making a lifelong decision. Thanks 🙏
  • @markcox8956
A good example of how to do a simple design, and well done on the instructions being described as you went along….
  • I’ve listen to this video at least two times before in the past year and only now on my third time re-watching it did I actually hear the dermis break! 😭😁 I’m so thankful for this video, I can’t wait to practice it!!
  • @m00ndweller
thank youuuu for showing the sound. that’s a huge help for things to keep note of while I learn!
  • Daniel you are the best! I have hearing loss on my both ears, so sometimes difficult to listen, but you made me realise that you can also tell by watching and feeling at the same time. This information gives me so much more confidence than before. Thank you very much!
  • @Bigs909
Thanks for the video bro, this goes more in depth and easier to understand by watching on actual skin
