The Run Walk Run method is used by a lot of the Goofy and Dopey Challenge runners down in Disneyworld, and here's the suggested training plan
www.rundisney.com/running-training-programs . Also, I recently attempted two marathons back to back, the first one I did running and the second one following the run walk run method. Video is here    • Run Walk Run Method | Run faster with...

Jeff Galloway's book and more info on his site here www.jeffgalloway.com/training/marathon-training

So what do you think about the runwalkrun method guys? Have you used it? How did it go? Are you planning on using it? Please comment down below!!

I use the run/walk method for training and marathons but not for anything under a marathon. I notice that you and others talk about using a 1 minute walk period but Jeff doesn't recommend anything walking longer than 30seconds anymore because it just makes starting to run again harder and I totally agree-if I'm on a downhill I actually only walk 20-25sec or until my breathing is recovered. I'm 73 and ran 16 marathons in 2023 using this method and hit my BQ time in 7 of them, on one stretch I ran a marathon each weekend x 4 marathons so the recovery is much quicker. I don't like Jeff's marathon plan which has running a bunch of short runs during the week then doing super long runs on the weekend up to 26miles which to me is way too long on my feet-I usually run a lot of 8mile runs during the week-run 3 days in a row then one cross train day then repeat-keep my long runs to no more than 16miles-occasionally throw in some Yasso 800 repeats(10 x 800M at 10k pace)-this system works for me and keeps me injury free but of course I hit the weights/machines 3x/week(I'm actually Rosanne's husband but she has the account)

Run Walk Run is such a useful tool - I don't tend to use it for training but I take advantage of it in longer races for sure. I once used it in a 12 hour / 50 mile ultra, 5 min run / 1 min walk the whole race, and was still able to move after!

Thank you for sharing! I’m a former marathoner and half marathoner. I used to have a decent pace but dealt with a bad concussion and cannot deal with sustained running anymore without getting symptomatic. This gives me hope!!!

Love your videos, just started trying the run walk method, and I was running 1 km and then taking a 30 second break. I felt much better than I would have at the end than if I had run the whole time.  I see you have tried a few different strategies sionce you started this, and noted in the comments below that you now use 90/30 versus running for 4 minutes, then walking 30. Why have you landed on this ratio?  Keep up the great work, the Madrid video was so well done!
  • Hi ...loved the tips...thanks for this video...one small recommendation...pls lower the volume of the background sound.
  • Strategy for those who run continuously but at the same overall pace as the Galloway group, start your race behind the Galloway runners because if you start with them, you will be doing a lot of dodging around people....for many many miles😂. It’s does work, but it’s not for me. If I start walking, I just continue to walk haha!

Great video. I use it some in last 20 miles of long ultras. New friend here.

I go back and forth on RWR. Sometimes it’s great, sometimes it ruins my mojo lol! I modified at my last half to run till I reach a specific heart zone, then walked till my HR came down, and that seemed to work better.
  • @qtlinh
Very hard to hear you with that loud background music. I couldn't finish the video.
  • Did you use the 6 month training program from the book? I've run a handful of marathons and I'm getting ready for an October race. I'm considering the walk run method. Live to know more about your weekly plans...tempo runs, speed, hill...
  • @angelmoon777
I really like your video and advice but couldn't watch it through as the background music is far too load on my headphones 😢
  • @Braz1956
How are you timing your run and walk intervals when you do the run/walk method?
  • RWR is a fascinating philosophy, but so much different that a lot of other philosophies out there. It's like barefoot running, right? Some runners swear it's the only way to run, but others find it isn't right for them. I have tried it (Avengers 2015), but I'm not sure I did it right or well during that training cycle. I think if you do it right, yes, JGs claims hold. Otherwise, I think it's a matter of personal preference.
