Please check out Will's vocal playthrough on his own YT channel, you'll get to hear his voice so much more!
  • @frosty980
About the lyrics: I listen to harsh vocals like they’re another instrument on initial listens of songs, later I look up the lyrics and it adds another layer when listening again.
  • @vandermar1979
Will is a big fan of opera and is just a golden retriever of a human being who just happens to be able to sing like a demon lol.
  • @doctajuice
Even an opera singer gets the stank face and the head bob when that chorus hits 😂😂😂
  • @MrZip420
Austin Archey is a legend of a drummer in this genre. a goddamn machine
  • @alexhughes5551
Go check out The Charismatic Voice, Elizabeth has several videos with Will including her famous throat camera video where she actually put a camera down Will's throat and showed how the vocal folds acted with different forms of his harsh vocals.
  • @arielstruth
Also, you need to see/listen to the Pain Remains trilogy!! It’s a bit softer, some describing it as ‘symphonic death core’…. It’s absolutely gut wrenchingly beautiful!
  • @rlGinjaNinja
peter: listens to 'to the hellfire' also peter: this guy was at my opera last night i know, i know, but it's still funny lol
  • @LS-yh5el
You should listen to one of the Sleep Token covers he does. His clean vocals are really good as well.
  • @halox3xdraven
"This song has so many lyrics" someone hasn't heard SUN//EATER yet.
  • With all these opera singers getting into deathcore I'm stoked for the dawn of operacore in 2030, Also loving these reactions / analysis videos, great content! <3
  • @TaverenTech
Ok, for some really good clean singing, see Will Ramos cover of Sleep Tokens: Choke Hold
  • @WittyWhitmire
You gotta see Will's one take vocal of this song. It is absolutely amazing.
  • @Fenthule
You absolutely get adjusted to the sound of these types of growls with exposure. You start to pick up certain consonant sounds and can dissect the lyrics from them easily enough. I hear this like plain English now - but it also helps that I can do what Will's doing (less professionally of course LOL) Also a note on the genre having abrupt shifts, you should get into some prog metal. Something like Periphery would be a great addition to your channel.

I heard a pretty interesting analogy in terms of why metalheads have zero issue not being able to understand the lyrics or veery loosely follow along : "When we hear a singer performing in another language than our own, we tend to not really care as much about understanding the words at that moment but rather try to understand the passion in the voice and the technique. In the same sense, we try to do the same with harsh vocals. We might not be able to understand the lyrics well, but goddamn are the vocal techniques that keep getting either invented or put a spin on is fascinating, and the passion behind what they do." Another quote I liked, came across it not too long ago : If we have genres of music like we do movies, why can't there be a horror genre? That's what the really heavy metal portrays to me. You have singers that sound like goblins, zombies, demons, eldritch abominations. Sounds like horror to me"

Watch the One Take Playthrough of this where You can study all his vocal artistics! ♥
  • @kuneefay
Will is wild. Have to recommend any of his vocal one takes. My personal favorites being for Of The Abyss, and Sun // Eater
  • @lolrachie1
As a vocalist you absolutely have to listen to one of his vocal play throughs on his channel and hear him singing unedited!
  • @missrubyphoenix
I'm expecting you to go down the rabbit hole as quickly as Elizabeth did and, in the process, she and Will became besties
  • So excited to see this!! As for lyrics, I definitely pull them up for a first-time listen. And maybe a couple after that 😅 but I’ve found the more I listen to a particular vocalist, the easier it gets to parse out what they’re saying because my ear just gets used to it. Looking at the lyrics definitely helps though!
