  • In an alternate universe these games would be awesome, so people would call them paynekillers
  • @AVGNROCKS1996
Gotta say, Stranglehold genuinely looks like a hell of a lot of fun. If they could’ve made a sequel with the budget you mentioned… Remedy would have stiff competition.

Funny story: me and my friend are massive fans of Chow Yun Fat so when we saw a copy of Stranglehold in a store, it was the last one. We had to resolve it by flipping a coin to see who is gonna buy it. Gotta say I was lucky my copy still stands on the shelf.
  • Stranglehold was one of my favorite one-off non-AAA games for 360 as a kid. The destruction is still really impressive even today. Loved it
  • I remember Yahtzee saying, in one of his LDOs, that the Devs reached out to him after his 'Wet' review. The publisher gave them the prototype of the game they got from some unknown team and gave them less than a year to finish it. That's why it's in such a bad rushed state.

You've been missed my friend! Welcome back
  • @janakgajjar
I’ve played lots and lots of Total Overdose in childhood. Brings back fun memories
  • @brandoncyoung
I worked on stranglehold, it was alot of fun to work on. I have some dev footage of the FX made on it
  • @Pitchguest
Not having to reload in Stranglehold is a in-joke for those who've seen Hard Boiled.
  • @c-man9406
Double Action: Boogaloo is a multiplayer spin on Max Payne mechanic and boy it is one of the most fun source base indie shooter I have ever play, it certainly my favorite MP clone for that reason alone
  • @burgerbait
Game: has bullet time Raycevick: that's a Max Payne clone
  • @cltre1048
I remember when my older brother first got stranglehold. He was so excited to show me the slow motion shooting mechanics. I used to watch him play for hours waiting for him to go to sleep so I could play as well. Definitely in my top 10 still.
  • I was actually a little surprised that Wanted: Weapons of Fate didn't make the list, but then again that game seems to have just disappeared from all records. With this video, I have officially heard more people talk about Wet than I have Wanted. I won't say Wanted is the best thing ever, but I thought it was a hell of a lot better than Wet. This one you might actually enjoy because as silly as it is, curving bullets never stops being fun for me, especially since once you're good at it you can pull them off in rapid succession.
  • I've played max payne for the first time in 2019-2020, and it felt like a brand new game.
  • @JJAB91
I remember a friend of mine used to be obsessed with Wet before and during release. He changed his Xbox picture to it, talked about it a lot etc. etc. then once the game actually came out and he played it all that suddenly stopped. Seeing you talk about that game made me think of that and it just made me laugh. He did the same thing with Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X now that I think about it.
  • @Patterrz
I remember replaying the demo for Stranglehold over and over again because the bullet time was so fun
  • @GamesNerdBR
34:44 THERE IT IS AGAIN IM GOING CRAZY -Noodles "Need for Speed" (i can be anywhere) -Funke "Concept Albums" (light into water reflections) -Mandalore "Marathon" (we all have a real first floor) -Leon Massey "Life and death of skateboarding games" (the turtels hiding in the shells) -Punk Duck "How to Monster Hunter Rise" (the turtels hiding in the shells) -JFJ "Fun is fun 24" (rats in cages) -Brendaniel "the mtn Dew review" (it dwells within crystal) and counting
  • @saudade347
I can forgive Strangehold a lot, it is easily the best game out of this bunch and I do think it has plenty of variety to keep itself fun for its run time, even though it is shooting with very limited weaponry I think a lot of it is still enjoyable. I think you actually avoided the worst Max Payne clone by far, and that was El Matadaro. That game, if I recall, does not have bullets as projectiles but as hit-scan, yet it still has bullet-time, it plays absoltuely awfully.
  • @SoSS_Operator
I loved Total Overdose when I was a kid. Lol. That menu song was fire.
