Thank you for the clarity you bring to the topic of awareness and consciousness, Sunny! I am reminded of listening to Joseph Goldstein when I first started on this path. His first instruction of meditation, taught to him by his teacher, was to "Sit, and know you are sitting". After many years, I am beginning to recognize (experientially) that within this simple instruction is the very seed of awakening... It is a pointer which shifts attention away from objects and towards awareness itself. ~Be Happy!

When you become present, Awareness shines through in Counsousness!! Amazing! 🙏❤️

Awareness is awakening, the center between the inner world and outer world. Thank you very much Sunny for your teachings. Namaste.

We could say consciousness is like a wave contacting the beach, awareness is the ocean. It's so easy to get lost in semantics, they often lead us away from the essential (to your point). In english, 'awareness' is the wrong word, we want a word that refers to the unconstructed, like: nirvana, anatta, god (tractable but problematic since it retains the constructed), brahman, moksha, life-force

You nailed it. Thank you

A comes before C

This excellent explanation is an important adjunct for reading Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, since he uses 'consciousness' and 'awareness' as separate concepts. Many contemporary nonduality teachers, like Rupert Spira and Mooji, use 'consciousness' as a synonym for 'awareness" (Atman).

This is really useful, thank you so much. I had often thought of consciousness as synonymous with awareness or much the same thing, but this explains it beautifully. I have on a few occasions in the past, had the experience, of waking up in the morning from, I think, a deep sleep, and just for a microsecond, there was the sense that I had been awake in some deep dark place, not dreaming, no images, but then it would be gone as I became conscious of being physically awake.

Thank you so much because I'm lost at all this

I always had that question, thank you Sunny for answering it!

Consciousness is the light, awareness is the space in which darkness and light appear s Sunny you are gifted in explaining that which cannot be explained easily ❤❤❤
-
Very well explained! Thanks Sunny, I like the notion of dormant awareness waking up in consciousness 💡
