Learn and understand who Jesus Christ is (His identity) and why He came (His mission).

Jesus Christ is God in the Flesh, and has come to save us.

Read the Bible yourself, start with the four gospels, and decide to make Him your personal Lord and Savior.
Repent, ask Jesus to wash you clean, and invite Him into your heart, as your personal Lord and Savior.
Jesus Christ is fully God, and part of the Trinity (God-Father, God-Son, God-Holy Spirit):

"The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you." (Romans 8:11-13)

Once you have received the Holy Spirit, you cannot lose it. You cannot lose your salvation. It is a free gift, and cannot be earned through works.
Jesus Christ, risen, is the ONLY way to life eternal.
