  • Covenant is my favorite of all. I remember buying Illud Divinum Insanus and getting home super excited. I played it and was so disappointed, I just couldn't wrap my head around it. I read an interview with David Vincent on that album, and he said Trey was getting into sampling and was doing like techno dj stuff, so that stuff you hear is all him on that record. Great video man!
  • I have to sort of disagree with you about KINGDOMS. Garden of Disdain and Paradigms Warped had some excellent and unique riffs from Trey. Those are the 2 best songs on the album for me. I thought the rest of the album was mostly forgettable other than those 2.
  • Covenant, Altars of Madness and Formulas Fatal to the Flesh are my top 3. I have no idea how to rank them though. They all rule equally.

I don't think Kingdoms Distained is worse than Illud. I agree however that Kingdoms Distained has some forgettable moments but overall a solid album. It's nice to see someone not rank their first album as their best. It's difficult to rank the first 4 because I like them pretty much equally. I am hoping to see them live this coming December 2024. Cheers!
  • Nice to see a Morbid Angel ranking. Kingdoms Distained came bottom in my ranking too, and I agree that Illivid etc is a mixed bag but like say some great songs. That riff on the middle eight of where the slime live is awesome!

They used 7 strings on Covenant, World of Shit, Blood on My Hands and God of Emptiness were all Bb standard 7 strings. To me Covenant is the best record by Morbid then followed by Domination. Covenant is my favorite metal album of all time. There are so many records that blew mind the first time I heard them but Covenant still melts my brain on how good it is.
  • Really enjoyed the ranking James, save maybe one or two releases switched around for me, I pretty much am in line with you on the order of album preferences.
  • Not a band I’ve heard a lot of so interesting to hear your opinion, great ranking mate!
  • Cool ranking 🤘I have the first 2 Morbid Angel albums but probably should pick up the next couple also. RIP Mike Howe, too young
  • A surprising Morbid Angel ranking, James! Surprising because I never thought Kingdom Disdained would ranked as the worst.
  • @GRockVC
Good ranking. Very useful as I only really know the first couple of their albums, so I'll check out some of the ones I don't know that you speak highly of 🤘🤘
  • @kamo124
I like this rankin! i too consider covenant and domination their 2 best. And for me also God of emptiness was their first song ever listened.
  • @JoshKeech
Awesome ranking James! I've heard some of them, got a tonne left to go! But will get there eventually as what I have heard I've really liked, I think they're one of my favourite Death Metal bands I've heard so far! Also RIP Mike Howe, I saw that a few days ago. Not really listened to Metal Church but still very sad to hear of his passing. Will get round to hearing them at some point. And RIP Joey Jordison, fantastic drummer. Absolutely gutted to hear about his passing 😔🤘🤘🤘
  • @psynapsys
great video! same top 3 here as well :) you mention god of emptiness was the first morbid angel track you've heard, most likely because that was their first video clip. haha i think that clip was in a beavis and butthead episode on mtv when i first heard them and shortly after i bought the album. still my most favoured death metal band. such consistency in quality
  • Great list here Mr Boulder. I actually saw them live in Tampa a year or two ago and got a pick from Mr Trey. Absolutely killer stuff. I was disappointed that they wouldn’t play any of their early stuff, seems so petty to me. Grown men bickering! Anyways, loved your opinions here. MA was my gateway to Extreme metal and they will always have a place in my heart!
  • Ayyyy.. props for not putting illud in dead last....I'm one of VERY few that doesn't think that album THAT bad.... liked and subbed
  • @erisi236
Beavis and Butthead and the movie Night of the Demons 2 introduced me to Morbid Angel
  • Interesting idea for a video man , Morbid Angel is a one of those bands I just couldn’t quite get really into . I think Altars of Madness is a total masterpiece, but after that I just can’t really find anything that leaves me saying WOW. I have their first three albums , the next album I’m gonna get is Domination , just for collecting purposes I suppose. Covenant is my second favorite one . Cheers 🤘
