How To Bring Out the Best In Your Kids And Others ( Part 1) with Rick Warren

saddleback.com/pdfamily — Being a parent takes courage, effort, and sacrifice. In fact, raising a child may be the most demanding task of life. The way we bring up a child not only affects that child’s life, but it impacts generations to come. In this message, Pastor Rick invites four Saddleback fathers to share their thoughts on bringing out the best in our kids. You’ll learn the importance of accepting the uniqueness of our children by no longer comparing and conforming to the ways of the world. Find out how to affirm your kids’ value by knowing that God custom-made us, died for us, and has his Spirit living inside of us. Don’t miss this message that will teach you how to accept your children — just as they are, created in God’s image.

  • That was so lovely to hear what each of those fathers had to say. Being from a large all girl family, the first to have a son, then his father died while he was a baby, I felt so unequipped for raising a boy. I tried to get him to like football to be with the other boys. He didn't like it. I got him to martial arts when he got bullied. His sister loved it, but he didn't. I got him guitar lessons and he wasn't interested. I felt like I failed as a dad, but I was his mum. But granddad loves him the way he is. And anyway, he put down that guitar at 6 years old not remembering a thing (he was a little deaf until he got grommets later on), then he picks one up again with his pals at college. He is self-taught, like his father's father, also deceased, who'd fixed an old accordian, picked it up and just played it by ear. He has awards for his work with sound and our daughter for her writing, both creative, and their dad would be so proud. It takes time to learn about your children. God is a creative genius bringing these blessings to us all!

Thru your book Tatay RICK WARREN, (filipino term for Father bcoz you're a spiritual father!), I was able to get out of my bitterness and accepted who God really is in my life.. I was born again. Thru your book and your preachings for the second time, my marriage was born again! Now, you are part our everyday lives, my husband and mine like a radio morning radio host is YOU.
